Importing/Exporting LMaps with Win7 MS Paint
Its another Win7 thread! Oh joy...
I can export LMaps into MS paint as 16 Colour Bitmaps. When I do the business and save it, then import it back into TE, its all black and white... Any help?

Re: Importing/Exporting LMaps with Win7 MS Paint
I had the same problem when I switched to W7. It was very frustrating, but I found a workaround - I downloaded the XP MS Paint and it works great for me, I'm still using it.
If you or anyone else had the same problem but a different solution, please share it with us.
BTW I remember I had a rough time finding the XP Paint to download , so if you want, I can send it to you (PM me).

Ah right. Shouldn't be too much bother, its a great excuse to use GIMP!

Nothing afgainst GIMP (I use it too), but it's fair offer, thank for this idea, egamad. Some of trackmakers here do interesting creations by combining of both tools during work on a lmap. It may look weird (as gimp seems to have same options like MS Paint and even more advanced), but results can be interestingly different sometimes. And Paint worth too, when you want to do simpler tasks on tracks and need to save power of battery in laptop (e.g. during school lesson ).
For me other option is using the Lmap tool of Bebelious as it offers very similar editing options of manual drawing on lmap like MS Paint.

I actually copied the old MS Paint from XP, can't work with the new one heh.
Re: Importing/Exporting LMaps with Win7 MS Paint
I have quite similar problem with Paint.net. When I save the landmap as 16 colour bitmap and open it in TE the colours change. Grass turns into red etc... I can fix it with MS Paint and GIMP so it's not a problem. Problem is that I can't fix the landmap in Paint.net while making the track because then I lost colours again and it can melt different colours into one. For example track lines and kerbs.
And the story was whatever was the song what it was

Real solution:
You can actually edit and save a 16 colour bitmap with the standard win7 paint . You just have to select "save as ..." instead of the normal "save", and choose the 16-colour bitmap as the filetype. So mind not to press Ctrl+S because it will save your lmap as a 24-bit version.

Did you try that yourself? Because it doesn't work for me, I've tried that already.

Yes I've tried, many times.
Re: Importing/Exporting LMaps with Win7 MS Paint
That's strange. Could you describe the whole procedure, please? Did you first export the .bmp and edit it or did you just start from scratch etc.?

Re: Importing/Exporting LMaps with Win7 MS Paint
I can't remember precisely what I did last time, because albeit the new paint works I use the older one to make tracks, because IMO it's better for GR track making (and at first I had the same problem before realizing how to avoid it). But at least it works when I first start the track making with GR Track Editor and then export it. And after finished editing the lmap I clicked save as -> bmp -> below the title is the extension, I chose 16-colour. Nothing special I guess
EDIT: Oh, and I usually use the eyedropper to get correct colours, but I don't know if it matters, though

Have you ever tride to create a LMap in TE, export it, open into paint and do not use any color of the colour picker, jsut using the eyedropper tool?
