Question about Juan's Car Editor!

Post by Garbre »

I want to make some modells but I can't find the way to make them not sink into the ground or just float above the ground. I remember there was a very detailed car physics description(maybe from Gentleman) but I can't find it now. Modell's y coordinates don't go below 0, shadows are the same. Maybe there's someting wrong with the size X, size Y and size Z? I don't know. Can someone help?

I'd always suggest you to give your cars same negative values as positive (e.g. a 1,4m high car goes from -0,7 to 0,7 in y).
Because in the non-model window (where you also set the physics) you can type in only one "crashing" value.
but if any of the values is 0, the car will sink into the ground.
That's my knowledge.

I'm not an expert about this bit but i THINK the sizes of variables X,Y and Z are the 'lengths' of the car. X being width, Y being height and Z being length.
What i tend to do is make model so that it is in the 'middle'. this means that the width (X value) of one end is -0.9 and the opposite of that is 0.9; the length(Z value) is also symmetrical, -2 one end and 2 the other AND the height (Y value) symmetrical, -0.7 one end and 0.7 the other (i include the wheels). So for this model the sizes i would punch in would be: X = 0.9, Y = 0.7 and Z = 2. dunno if this helps

Maybe you just need Required files (download)
I couldn't even show the "model" window at my XP SP3 before putting them in my windows folder ;)
