Track saving bug

Post by Steelronin »

hi im sorta new to the forums so go easy on me...

i createdc this (in my opinion) kinda cool track (probably horrible by your standards) but when i save it, it never shows up! i checked i had it in the right folder, but i do. but i have discovered something else. it shows up in the track folder but as a .TRK instead of a .trk does this make a difference?
Thnx in advance for any responses

AFAIK saving the track as a .trk or .TRK shouldn't make any difference.

In GeneRally v1.10 and up, the game only shows tracks, that are in the [Default Tracks] folder by default. If you want to see other tracks in the game, click on [Default Tracks] and choose any other folder or simply [all tracks]. It may solve your problem.

If that is not why you don't see your track, then you might have saved to a folder inside a folder. Unless folder handling was changed in the new version (hint :ugeek: ), you won't see any track that is inside a double folder.

Hope that helps. :bg:

You might want to get a fresh copy of the game and copy the file there for a test.
Also, does the filename or the path to the file have some special characters? Those are something that might break the file.

Also try to check, if you have full permissions to the folder, not just read-only level.

something similar never happened to me and so far nobody reported anything similar no matter that TE is extremely used tool, so I'm afraid, that it will not be bug. :(

Can you tell us what doesn't work exactly? I mean, is there some sort of error? Does the track appear in the folder when you access it from explorer directly? I assume that it does, but can you check in properties how big is the file? Maybe it just creates empty file with no data inside? If it has similar size as other, working tracks, can you move it to the same folder, where are tracks which do show up?

Maybe its a read-only folder. Then it wont save.
Did you see "Compatibiliteitsbestanden" up in your tracks map?
(its compatibility files in english)
Click it, there could be your track.
