Help with Screen Resolution
I haven't played this game in FOREVER, but I remember once there was a way to get the resolution higher than the 1024x768 maximum. I thought it was by changing the 'autodetect' setting in the config file to like 512,000 or some large number for the video memory, but that doesn't seem to work. I explicitly remember being able to run this game in 1280x1024 resolution. Does anyone have and idea about what I'm talking about and how I could achieve this? Thanks!
Re: Help with Screen Resolution
I run it at 1152x864, but there is an option higher than that which I could use, after which my monitor can't handle any more. I always thought 1600x1200 was the max?
Re: Help with Screen Resolution
Yeah, LCD monitors don't really tolerate using of higher resolutions than their native maximum. Are you using laptop? Intel graphcards don't like higher resolutions than 1024×768.

Re: Help with Screen Resolution
I am using a tablet, but the resolution of my screen is 1400x1050 and I'd like to be able to run it at that resolution. However Generally only gives me three options: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768. I don't even see 1280x1024. How do I enable these higher resolution modes?
Re: Help with Screen Resolution
1400x1050? Is that actually a standard resolution? I've never heard of it before. But I don't think GeneRally supports that resolution.

Re: Help with Screen Resolution
it should support all 4:3 resolutions in limits of the screen, so I don't understand too, why it doesn't like the 1280x1024.

Re: Help with Screen Resolution
1400x1050 is a 4:3 ratio known as SXGA+ so I would think Generally would support it but I'm limited to 1024x768 which looks really really crappy on this screen...
Re: Help with Screen Resolution
Well, I can get 1152x864 and the one above that, so I really don't understand your problem - as stated previously, my screen is 1440x900.

Drivers...
Are you using Windows 7? I wonder if that's the issue. I don't technically have drivers installed for my display adapter, Windows 7 just kind of worked with everything (I don't have drivers installed for ANYTHING actually, lol, bluetooth, fingerprint, wifi, etc...) so perhaps that's the culprit
Re: Drivers...
You have to install the graphics card, sound card etc. drivers regardless, Windows does not come with them preloaded. Or at least, not any more (Windows 9x did have some preloaded). In my experience, I could max out the resolution no problem without drivers on the desktop, but I couldn't play games properly (this is Vista, which Windows 7 is basically a tarted-up version of).

Re: Drivers...
Whoopse, I didn't mean to start a new thread as a 'reply' to my last one. I completely mis-stated what I meant to say, which is that I never had to download drivers from my manufacturer's site. Windows 7 took care of getting everything working for me - downloading the drivers it found most appropriate, and for the past 6 months I've never had an issue with anything, lol.

Re: Drivers...
No, those would be pretty much identical to the NVidia/ATI drivers... And OK, if you've got your drivers installed already. Bear in mind that Vista/7 will offer the updates through Windows Update anyway.
Re: Help with Screen Resolution
1280x1024 isn't 4:3 anyway but at least you can run GR in 1280x960.

OK, I merged them together, when it was accident and they try to solve same problem.Stang70Fastback wrote:Whoopse, I didn't mean to start a new thread as a 'reply' to my last one. ...
