GeneRally World nations cup (AI championship)

Post by dead14vii1640 »

Finally, the GR World cup has started.
This competition uses 4 cars of the Super2000 pack (Ford Focus, Peugeot 308, Skoda Octavia, Mitsubishi Lancer and Subaru Impreza) and tracks of all kinds (original, world tour, ToM, RSC and even Joint effort).
After a ton of delays (PC issues and needed time), the World cup started with the 1st round: Australia
The competition started this night with the qualifying session and the semifinals.

The qualifying determined the 2 semifinals with one with Australia, UK, Mexico, India, Canada and Germany and the other with Qatar, South Africa, USA, Brazil, Spain and Finland. Japan and Italy did not qualify for the semifinals.

After one of the most exciting races on GeneRally history, Germany and Mexico gained direct access for the main event. On the other semifinal, Brazil and Qatar made 2 great runs and dominated their semifinal.

QUALIFIED FOR MAIN EVENT: Germany, Brazil, Mexico and Qatar
LCQ: India, South Africa, Australia, Spain, Mexico & USA
ELIMINATED: Canada & Finland

Some safety modifications were made on the track after the problems with the roundabout and the hairpin in both semifinals (soft wall relocation).

In the LCQ, the starting lap nearly determined the final result. A mayhem was caused by Mexico when it started 3rd and tried to pass on the inside. The car passed but he was too loose and started a big pile-up that stucked South Africa and Australia. The following 14 laps were just a military march, with Spain and Mexico leading the pack and qualifying for the main event.
The four last positions awarded with points go to Australia (10th), India (9th), South Africa (8th) and USA (7th).

On the main event, Germany made a very good run, only losing the 1st position for about... 10 seconds?? Behind Germany; Brazil, Qatar and Spain battle for the last 2 podium spots while UK lost about 7 seconds on the 1st lap and Mexico just hold the 5th positions.

Championship positions:
1- Germany 15 pt.
2- Brazil 13 pt.
3- Qatar 11 pt.
4- Spain 9 pt.
5- Mexico 7 pt.
6- United Kingdom 5 pt.
7- USA 4 pt.
8- South Africa 3 pt.
9- India 2 pt.
10- Australia 1 pt.

2nd round

Post by dead14vii1640 »

The 2nd round of the Nations cup will be on Maradelli oval by Paw. Yes, it's an oval but it's a very difficult one because it's completely flat and it's rectangular.
One thing I didn't say before is that all tracks with separate pits will be safepits (oily safepits if you want...), so I modified nearly all the racetracks and ovals in the championship.

After a tight qualifying session, the following teams entered on the 1st semifinal (Brazil, Japan, Qatar, UK, India & Mexico) and this 6 (South Africa, Australia, USA, Germany, Canada & Italy) when to the 2nd one while Spain (11th) and Finland (12th) couldn't enter.

The 1st semifinal was a good race, the race was dominated by Mexico but there were some good battles on the back of the back, mostly for 4th, 5th and 6th position (QAT, UK and JAP). 2 important facts were the lack of safetyu in some points of the tracks and pit stops (about 1 lap long...).
This heat was similar to the 1st one. This time, RSA made a very good start but GER made a good comeback and, after 6 laps, he overtook RSA and become the leader, he didn't loose this position after that. ITA also made a comeback and, on the 18th lap, he overtook RSA in turn 4 and gained a place on the main event.
Talking about the eliminated teams, Japan and Finland haven't earned a single point during this 2 round while Spain and USA will loose a couple of spots on the standings.
