Is it allowed to use the areas marked in blue?
The lap would get longer but you can keep your speed better...

I hope not, if you do it on purpose I think it's gaining unfair advantage which is described in point 11.9 of PGR F1 Sporting Regulations 2011.

Especially in Qualifying it is absolutely crucial to stay within the borders of the track. That does not mean that cutting short is accepted during the races.

The above mentioned run-off areas are not part of the racing lane. We subsume all different ways of "leaving the track to gain an advantage" under the term "short-cutting". Article 11.6 also contains the idea of using "any other object [including walls] to gain an advantage". Hereby we mainly understand track editor objects.

Both aspects together form the main idea of article 11.6 that only "clean" laps within the track limits are allowed.

So: It's not allowed to cross the line in front of those run-off areas with all of your 4 wheels - as long as this makes your lap time quicker which is the case here.
The same applies, btw. and for example, for the bottom left corner (optional pit lane exit) at Abu Dhabi as well.

After his 2nd position in AUS GP TuomoH fails to qualify for the top 5.
While I love the Twitter feeds I fail to see the relevance of my last race performance when my last qualy was also outside the top 5. ;)

Yes, I know, and as far as I'm concerned, race doesn't mean qualy. As I said,

Since I train hardly at all for the qualy and much more for the race, I think these two sessions shouldn't be compared. ;)

@ TuomoH: Haha! It's hard to predict how good or bad your performance is as you are normally one of the first few drivers to login and send your files.
In the end I was stunned by your race in Australia but when you send your files I could only guess that it was that good (especially relative to your QF) :)

So now, expectations have grown ;)

Am I the only one who think that qualification here is a waist of time for slower racers (and those who don't like hotlaps like me)? I mean, I don't see why I should fight for something like 15th place or 17th (actually everything lower than 7th looks useless) if I still start 6th and that will ruin all my attempts to show somewhere nice result in race.

Buka, the funny thing, if everyone thinks that, it's easy to score good in Q :D Also you can get a fifth starting position still when you make the ninth Qualyfing place... ;)

Are there any open seats left? If not, I'm wondering if anyone will team up with me to form another team.

Nice, it's 23:20 in Poland, I've just found some time to race and... beep, login closed . Late wednesday evening seems to be the only time I can race, it's a pity that login is closed so early...
