Actually, this is the "Track Ideas, W.I.P. and Teasers/Trailers" thread for compos
Of course, if I'm starting this thread, it is because I have an idea (you should know me now), I think it the current status is "interest check", and I would wait a few more weeks before starting really working on it but here's the project :
GR Nations World Cup
As title may suggests, this is a kind of GR's World Cup, so it would be a tournament, just like the "F1cup league" or the "GRC Gala" which would be done by team, of course, by team, you have to understand "Nations". Each country would have to make a certain number of duels. There will be a Group Stage and the Knockout stage (with quarter finals, semi finals, final and even round of 16 there enough nations).
About "Team" composition, well, actually, the idea is to let everybody race for their country, however, only the best performance shall be counted. Well, to explain precisely how it works, I have to explain how the match works : It would be a double challenge system, which means TT and Hotlap at the very same time.
It would be a competition, and it would have a similar system as F1cup from s15 to s19, with 5 tracks per week and 5 laps per track, you won't have to do more, just 5 laps per track.
Match score will be calculated as follows :
- Absolute fastest lap for each country (1 pt * 5)
- Absolute best total time for each country (1 pt * 5)
- Cumulated fastest laps of each track for each country (1 pt)
- Cumulated total times of each track for each country (1 pt)
However, you should really understand the word "absolute" in this text, because it is the real absolute time on the discipline and on the track which will be counted, which means that if for example, me and Murano plays for France and Murano does the best times on tracks 1, 2 and 4, I will count his time for tracks 1,2 et 4, however, if I can do bette in tracks 3 et 5, I will count my times.
And the concept works on the very same track for different types, if Murano does the best total time (Time Trial) but if I do the best fastest lap (hotlap) for instante, I will count Murano's time for TT but my time for HL.
In conclusion, all what you have to understand, is that we count the ABSOLUTE best time for score
In case of tie, if we're in the group phase, we don't give a sh*t... As points will have the same system as soccer groups/championship, with 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a defeat.
However, in the knockout phase, as we need a winner anyway, I would count the best cumulated times of the "2nd drivers", and so on... if we still tied, then I will take the login time of the last scorer of each team (ie. the last driver of each time who actually made a best time).
About team numbers, the minimum would be 12, the maximum would be 32, but as I know that some guys will register their country and won't race, I know it will be very complicated to manage, anyway, here's the composition of the groups depending of the number of countries entered
- 12 countries : 4 groups of 3 countries
- 16 countries : 4 groups of 4 countries
- 20 countries : 4 groups of 5 countries
- 24 countries : 8 groups of 3 countries
- 28 countries : 4 groups of 4 countries and 4 groups of 3 countries (8 groups in total)
- 32 countries : 8 groups of 4 countries
About cars, original cars or the update are considered, when could I organize it ? Ideally in a period where we have few compos.
Otherwise, jo.sk gave me several suggestions, but not really applicable for me (at least regarding how I would set up this project)
- Teams would choose their tracks : Not applicable as sign up would be free (everybody can race for his country, even if he is a total rookie), so there are no "team captains" that could choose the tracks.
- Put the 3 types of racing (HL + TT + Race) in the same round : I think the Double Challenge will be the easier concept, the scoring system is quite complicated to explain, I don't want the race system to be as hard to explain.
- Qualifying round : I may organize a "validation round" during sign up period, so you would have to race to complete your sign up.
