Hi all guys,
At this time, from my subscription to the forum, I was able to participate in some competition with other users ... but I noticed a bit of difficulty in being competitive.
I find myself a pretty good player of arcade and simulation racing games and particularly competitive person (so much to get nervous in searching my best performance) but getting me more than 13 seconds from the first ranked in my first race was really a shock. (seriously, these guys are damned fast! :eyes:  )
So, I had an idea that might interest other beginners... create a championship aimed exclusively at rookies, to give users without much skills the possibility to compete and enjoy racing each other.
To accomplish this, we need:
-A user who can provide a login for the competitions and manage the various results of the participants.
-A user who can help manage the rules for the participants and rankings.
-An indefinite number of original circuits (and not taken from reality) in which to compete with users.

I hope my idea can be interesting for GR users... for all those , you can contact me via PM
Have a good day guys

p.s. I have already in mind the name and the subcategories of this competition... but I wait only to see if it can be realized.

There used to be a rookies championship almost exactly like you describe, but it's been a couple of years since it was run as the person who ran it has not been able to do so.

Yup, the original idea was created by JTarJ, and later it was managed by Murano, and a bit more recently, by Buka. Would be great to see again this kind of competition. I'm not sure yet about the participants number, though.

Of course, participants are the key thing.
If there are none, it makes no sense to make (or remake in this case) a project like this.
So, this message is directed to all who wants or think to want participate.
Obviously I'm in

Even though you can call me a veteran in this game, I would actually have to compete in Rookies Championship, in order to not be classified a rookie, because I was too lazy to do so back then. :D
Nevermind, great Idea, as I was just asking in the german community, how to have things live up again.

It´s all about the competition and players across the globe come together as one to play this game.

And a rookies season would definitly be one step.

Of course, PGR F1, one of the big known competitions in GR today, coming from our german community, is delayed for one year till 2018, which attract some players to join back.

The GRID Hattrick is also a good race series, because you have all types of racing combined in one package.

Rallye can also be a fun experience with off-road elements, I never been a part of this type combo before.

Then again have a Race of Champions event once a year, like we used to have.

Any more suggestions? Text me a private message or directly in this thread.

Well, let´s see, what the future holds for our GR community, I´m faithful.

Your welcome,

Eric/GR

.Just had a random thought, i've been using google drive a lot recently, and you can post files on it that can be edited from several sides (i.e. people invited for access to it). Maybe a nice idea to keep a track-record listing on those kind of files? Then you can see how others are doing, and be inspired into improving your own laptimes and such. is this an old idea already?

I am willing to get that ball rolling in people are interested. I myself already like keeping an eye of my times on the RL circuits, so not to farfetched to extend this effort. Also fun idea maybe that with this you can track of total time over the decided bunch of tracks (based on same car I guess).

Officially, I resign from leading any competitions... but I was going to start with manager in GeneRally, based on long-distance races like WEC.

Anybody interested?

Oh, yeah, I love the long distance compos. I used to organize a few ones some years ago. That's what GR needs now! :bg:

So, question for everyone. In management competitions, do you prefer real manufacturers or are fictional manufacturers okay, too? I'm thinking about either reviving NAGRCA GTR or making an open wheel management competition. In open wheel there will be options for parts like engines and chassis, I would prefer to go fictional but if people only want to see real manufacturers then I might consider using real ones instead.

I don't mind if there will be real or fictional (own) constructors. If everything works - it's ok.

It's fine whith both actually... Though fictional manufacturers may give a bit more flexibility, especially if you'd allow to design our own cars...

Maybe it's worth to make the one last grand finale, the last race of GeneRally? For example in Apasta. To try and gather as mush participants as possible, all the past champions and common racers so we'll close this beautiful chapter of our lives on a high note.

Idk what you're talking about, we're currently preparing the gamepack for the new GRPL F1 season.

I do agree with the part about gathering people though, it will be handy to have some drivers on the grid. We will be trying to reach racers via our facebook page but the idea is to be open for international community as well. We are sitting on discord for now. I'll be sure to pass the link when we will have everything prepared.

Same here with a short spin-off from PGR F1, which is put on hold at the moment.

I realize there are some relatively strong and active communities around (like the Polish or the Brazilian) but they are somewhat isolated and they use different forms of organization and communication. When it comes to competitions, a traditional forum (and especially an international forum like this) is obviously not the place to be, anymore.

What Buka suggests seems more like a final competition on this board. But with it, I suppose, quite a few of the remaining members who are not part of the Polish or Brazilian community will quit racing altogether. So for people like me, it could very well be their last GeneRally competition.

The remaining communities are spread and indeed rather isolated, but that poses no restrictions in terms of competitions organized by them. Just like PGR 2016, although embedded in German community, was a chance for all active drivers to compete and it didn't feel at all that the non-German part of the grid was missing something, even though you had your own German forum where you've been discussing season-related issues. This is also pretty much how we imagine it this time, however Polish and international subforums are planned to be held within the same discord server, but just in different rooms, which would make a more friendly environment for foreigners.

Just casually bumping this thread after *looks* TWO YEARS.

Looking at redoing GRASCAR now, despite discussing this many years ago. I had a talk with a few people about running it and getting the rules, I wonder what others think about this, given that it needs a bit of a refresh, such as nerfing the AI a bit so it's more about driver skill than luck, moving to a login system and trying to play around with a bit more tyre wear and pit stops while keeping the similar tracks/cars (maybe a road course too). Any thoughts?

Hi Crowella,

I landed more or less casually here too (since a lot more of 2 years).
I really like your suggestion, GRASCAR was one of the hardest compos in GR history (probably the hardest one). A rewamp with login-system and some road course would be great, but where do we find another dzz to manage all that?

Apart that, I'm still here (a bit older than I once was, but no matter...) and can give a helpin' hand if needed to thrust your great proposal...

I've already had a chat with TuomoH and some of the admins at GRPL so we are organising it for January and February with help from the GRPL team for the login system and such. There has been some tweaking to the rules (No AI, safepit changes, grid placed on standings etc) and a slightly compressed calendar but the idea of keeping the car setups, some of the calendar are still intact.

Don't think there'll be a road course this season but yeah, any hand I'm helping is so truly appreciated 😁 it would be great to have such a great competition up and running again!

I think GRASCAR was a reference in the Generally world, so why not? That would be great.
