V8SC S2 Special Event: Bathurst 50k [Login] [TT] [Team]

Post by puttz »

Welcome to Bathurst, the longest, most grueling, and most prestigious race of the GRV8 Supercars season. If you are only going to win one race, this is the one to do it in. If you are only going to race in one, this would be the one. It's just you and your mate against the mountain, a test of man and machine. And at the end of the day, only one pair of drivers will earn the right to be called winners at Bathurst.

Bathurst Page: http://puttz.byethost31.com/V8SC2Bathurst.html
login: http://puttz.byethost31.com/logins/V8SC2/V8SC2login.php

Rules and Regulations:
The same rules as the regular V8 Supercar series apply, as this event is part of the season championship, along with the special Bathurst rules regarding teams. Each team should consist of two drivers, and they must decide on what car number and color scheme to run. Any combination of drivers may be allowed, either the two teammates in the regular season may team up, or each team member may find a different co-driver for this round. Teams of two non-championship drivers are also permitted. One team may not have more than 2 cars entered into Bathurst. There are also 4 pre-setup/imposed teams (one for each manufacturer) that I have created for those who do not have a teammate, and want to simply sign up and not have to worry about finding a teammate. They can just state that they are joining one of those teams. If there are drivers that do not have a co-driver, they will be assigned to a pre-setup team, or a season team that does not have a co-driver. Season drivers will not be forced to drive for a team other than their championship team unless it is necessary. In that event, you will still score points for your regular team, just like the imposed teams rule in GWR.

When you sign up for Bathurst, you will be sent login info via PM (Those who are signed up for the season championship will use that login info.) To login, put your username followed by 05 (The Bathurst round number, e.g. puttz05) and password. Once you login, you will receive a zip file to download and unzip into your track folder. You must race with this track. Then select your driver, select the track, and start your race. At the end, you must take a screenshot of the results screen and make a savegame. Then put the track, screenshot, and savegame into a zip folder (.zip, .rar, .7z) and send it to puttzracer(at)gmail(dot)com. Please put your username and Bathurst in the subject line (putting round number and V8SC as in other rounds is also acceptable). You will have "your race time" plus 5 minutes for login.

Race Deadline: January 6th 2013 at 11:59pm GMT

Settings:
Tire wear: 17%
Fuel Consumption: 10%
Fuel Load: 25kg
Damage: 15%
Race length: 25km
Ghost Cars: off

To sign up as a team, one team member should post the two drivers names, the team name, car number, manufacturer and car colors (000/000/000 000/000/000)
Season drivers without a co-driver, post your name, team name, car number, manufacturer, and car colors (000/000/000 000/000/000) and state that you are looking for a co-driver.
To sign up as an individual, put your name and either state that you are looking for a team to drive for, say that you wish to answer a request for a co-driver, or state one of the pre-setup teams as your team.

The login for Bathurst will open a couple of weeks before the deadline, so that there will be plenty of time for everyone to race. If for some reason one member of a team does not make their leg of the race, I will take twice the time of the single driver, plus some penalty that is yet to be determined.

Good luck to all drivers, I hope you enjoy this unique format, and I hope it will be a successful race. :bg:

The zip has only the files necessary for the Bathurst round. If you are in the season championship, you do not need to download this as Bathurst is already included in the championship zip.

Just to be sure: everyone has to race once, so both driver's races added are the resulting time of the team, right?

Of course, but if only one driver from team make his race then team's result will be twice his time plus 1 minute (as mentioned here: http://forum.generally-racers.com/viewt ... 374#p72374).

I was seven seconds faster then in training :goal: (hope that I practised enough ;) ), but it feels like my race was at least quite good.

And finally, the checkered flag has fallen over Mount Panorama. :cflag: Two teams stood out over all of the rest over the course of the event, Liekki Racing and planetgenerally.de. It also became the classic battle of Ford vs. Holden. It was close, but the Ford pair of TuomoH and Trigger happy in the Liekki Racing #77 took the final triumph over XYY and Reh in the #060 planetgenerally.de Holden by a mere 4 seconds. Rounding out the podium was the only Nissan duo, Alonso and Scaramanga, Driving the Croatia Racing Team #27. In total, 7 teams showed up to contest Bathurst, but only one earned the right to be crowned the winners and Champions of Bathurst. Congratulations to Liekki Racing for taking the first GeneRally Bathurst 50km. :winner:

Excuse me, I really don't understant the logic behind the points awarded to individual drivers.
For what I see I did the fastest individual time, but I'm awarded with team position points (6th place).
Shouldn't there be separate classifications for drivers & teams?
(If not, then boy isn't that weird  )

the rules wrote: g. If a team has two points eligible drivers, they both score the points for the position they finish in.
I think the rules are pretty clear on that point. However, I will admit that this probably was not the best idea, but it stands as-is. It was done in the same way that the real Bathurst event would be done.
