Cannot afford to flop, and that includes unnecessary visits to sunk tires :3
And yes, I'm still practicing. (I wish I have enough confidence to do my runs but no... )

Welcome guys, all passwords sent - good luck on the track.

Little less than 48 hours remaining until the deadline - 25 attempts done.
You can check who drove and if there are any penalties here: http://grid.werlos.com/entries - but you need to log in to see that (I'm in the process of verifying first drivers).
Good luck to all who didn't drove yet.

With 25 signed drivers it's 37% (as right now there are 28 attempts done) so still, many people to drive.
Re: GRID: Hat-trick, round 1: Audru Ring [HL+R+TT] [login]
Crap. HL just done and i just realize it's not 5 laps but 5 minutes. Dunno if that is enough to get penalized as in reality i've done less laps that in a 5 min session and didn't get the benefit to empty the fuel tank + new green tyres . Even with that the lap was awesome.
Re: GRID: Hat-trick, round 1: Audru Ring [HL+R+TT] [login]
Of course you won't get a penalty - you made it harder for yourself.
Remember that race and timetrial are in kilometres - don't drive 20 minutes

Just did a simulation whith the correct length settings & a proper strategy and only improved my time by 0.08 so that's cool. Quite happy with it all things considered. Now onto TT & Race

Thanks Np2003, Serginho and Hermes for the welcomes
Just finished my 3 sessions, I found some sunk tires along the way and had some problems with the AIs, but I'm happy that I finished them with no major trouble. It was great to remember how fun GR is, and I'm looking forward for the results

I just found out that the second turn, which is a widening hairpin, is pretty much hard to be tackled perfectly... For some reason I wanted to reach 21.0x but... Well, I guess I'm having troubles with going fast
And I'm sure there are those who reached 20.xx there... Any tips on a good line on this track is appreciated.

Re: GRID: Hat-trick, round 1: Audru Ring [HL+R+TT] [login]
Going as fast a possible through the hairpin isn't as important as finding a good exit, where you don't even need to use the whole track, as the momentum preserved from taking it faster doesn't compensate for the longer route. My preferred brake point is about a car length before reaching the first kerb and no more than that, while lining myself up as close as possible to it before turning in.
What you generally want to do is cut as close as possible to the track's extreme points, such as the hairpin exit and Enos Motersport Curve (for reference). The next technical section is about preparing yourself for the exit through Enos Motersport Curve, and a good, fast entry into Spin FM Curve can make all the difference. I only turn into Spin FM Curve once my car passes the tree line. This is probably the most difficult part of the track, and where much time can be gained or lost.
A fast drive through the final two corners is possible, and requires use of the whole track. The final corner is ideally taken flat out, and the entry into the second to last corner should also be fast; breaking right where the kerb starts gives you enough momentum in preparation for the final corner. This is the most crucial section of the track for setting fast lap times.
With all this in mind you can be well on your way to driving sub-21 second laps.

Ah, damn it! I thought I pressed the Esc key but when I pressed it the save menu doesn't seem to load. And when I thought the menu is loading, I pressed left and ta-da! I forgot to save my hotlap!
What a stupid person I am!

Re: GRID: Hat-trick, round 1: Audru Ring [HL+R+TT] [login]
Okay, now my bad luck strikes again and it's getting ridiculous that it's gotten my nerves. I've done everything right for my TT submission; the save, the track, and the screen. Just when I pack everything up, my laptop's power died unexpectedly, and it is because I didn't see that my laptop flashed two red lights even when it's charging, signifying that it doesn't charge. This happens at random, even when I didn't pay attention to it. Guess what, bye bye my TT submission... I've lost my minutes and now I don't bother submitting my TT results because it's too late and my laptop is too slow to recover from that state...
The next time I've got a bad luck, I'm walking out from this compo. Not that I'm not fast enough, but all the bad luck is much unacceptable than being last!

*sighs* yes, I know. I might cross as one of the most determined ones that I pushed myself too hard on things...marass wrote:Well Rendy, thats sad, but it is just a game
Hopefully either myself or my laptop doesn't screw my race as it might be my first and only run with result.... -_-
