GP Legends Season 2 (1935 Season) [login]

Post by puttz »

Welcome once again to Grand Prix Legends. Step inside the time machine and experience racing in another era. This season of Grand Prix Legends, we are going even further back in time to 1935. Safety was minimal, but the racing was still fast. Get ready to strap on the goggles once again as Grand Prix Legends season 2 gets underway.

Series Site
Login

The car pack will be Grand Prix 1935 by Mad Dan. There will be imposed teams as in the previous season, but there are only 5 teams and no privateers. You may choose any of the manufacturers you wish to drive for, there will be no caps on the number of drivers per team. Numbers will be assigned in the order of signup, except for #1, which is reserved for the S1 Champion (Alonso). Only the top driver will score points for his/her team.

The settings will be the same as S1, except fuel consumption will reduce to 6% instead of 10%, so no pit stop will be needed.
Points system will be after the 1935 rules: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7(all other finishers & DNF)-8(DNS or DSQ)

See Here for full rules.

The Calendar is as follows (The deadline is the date listed at 11:59pm GMT)
Round 1: Monaco Grand Prix (8/30/14) (Monaco '29-'71 by Speedfreek)
Round 2: Avusrennen (9/6/14) (Avus 1937 by Trigger Happy)

Although my carpack would need some polishing in XYZ values as I had no idea how to do them in that time :D. I'd love to race in that era so I selfishly voted for my carpack :D.....

about this point, an idea could be to stay accordingly with the rules of the era that'll be chosen, the first example that comes in my mind is:
1987 season --> without pitstops
1994 season --> with pitstops

Looks like we will be racing in 1935 this time around :D Might be a little tricky to find tracks that fit that era. I'm open to suggestions, they can be [rwl] or fictional. I'll update the first post later, and figure out a schedule so I can release the gamepack.

Why will you have problems to find tracks? I think there are at least enough rwl, e.g.:
- Solitude (ask Trigger Happy)
- Avus
- Donington
- Nordschleife
- Brooklands?
- Monte Carlo / Monaco

If you search for them, you can find them ;)

How i previously say, i go to make tracks for the compo ;) , i go to make Gavea Circuit in Brazil :yellowfg: :bluefg: :greenfg: and Lake Bogstad in Norway :redfg: :whitelg: :bluefg: (is a ice track, but don't worry, the cars have good handling in ice and snow too) :D
EDIT: This could be a good calendar:
1. Belgium GP (Spa old by marinator)
2. Germany GP (Nordschleife old by TurboNewbie
3. Switzerland GP (Bremgarten by BBA)
4. Italy GP (Monza Historic by BBA, in Florio layout)
5. Norway GP (Lake Bogstad by Np2003, coming soon :P )
6. Monaco GP (Monaco 29-71 by SpeedFreek)
7. Great Britain GP (Brooklands by CamrosX or Donington '37 by Trigger Happy)
8. Estonia GP (Pirita 1933 by Trigger Happy)
9. France GP (Reims-Gueux by -cbfs- , because the Gabor Kozma version is very narrow :sweatdrop: )
10. United States GP (Roosevelt Circuit by BBA)
11. Brazil GP (Gavea Circuit by Np2003, coming soon  )
You that think of my ideal calendar by your compo, or you thing that is very long? :misch:

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.
@XYY, part of the problem is I'm not too familiar with F1 in general, particularly earlier years, so I don't know what tracks to look for :hide: Thus why I asked for suggestions.

@np2003, The calendar is going to be 6 races, just like in season 1. I'd need any tracks within a week or two, since I want to have the calendar very soon. Also, I want to keep it strictly on tarmac/paved tracks, so the ice track is a no go.

About tracks mentioned above, couple of them aren't authentic, but are with rebuilt layouts during 50s (Reims, Monza, Spa), never used before WWII.

So if any tracks, I'd be thinking about tracks from Monte Carlo (SpeedFreek), Bremgarten (BBA), Budapest-Nepliget (Gabor Kozma), Nice (zioalfred), Montjuic (Clutch)/Sigtes (CamrosX), Roosevelt Raceway (BBA), Brooklands (CamrosX)/Donington, Nordschleife (TurboNewbie)/Avusrennen, Pirita (Mad Dan and me).

I also have two ancient tracks by Beardos (Albi and Livorno road courses). Generally it's wiser to first collect tracks before decision about cars is done.

My suggestion :) in order of appearance in 1935 season ;).
1 Monaco - Monte Carlo - Speedfreak (link2)
2 Hungary - Népiglet Park - Gábor Kozma
3 Belgium - Spa - Marinator (1947 version though, no idea if different from 1935) / Spa - Speedfreak (also a 1947 version)
4 Swiss - Bremgarten - BBA
5 Italy - Monza - BBA (although there would be needed slight alteration of the layout)
6 Germany - AVUS - Trigger Happy
7 Great Britain Donington Park - Trigger Happy / Brooklands by CamrosX

Trigger Happy made wonderful version of Brno from that era but never finished it I think :).

Yeah Trigger Happy made a nice summary above me :bg:.

To create the ideal calendar for the GPL S2 first we need to see the calendars of the Real Life Grand Prix seasons 34, 35, 36:

Monaco - Monte Carlo by Speedfreak
Switzerland - Bremgarten by BBA
Germany - Nurburgring by TurboNewbie or AVUS by Ivoshek
Italy - Monza by BBA
France - Montlhéry by YoNnie, but this is a modern version; alternatively Nice by Zioalfred; IDK if a pre-war version of Pau exist for GR
Spain - Lasarte, not made for GR; replacement can be Sitges by CamrosX
Belgium - Spa by marinator

wildcard entries:
UK - Donington by Ivoshek
Czechoslovakia - Masaryk/Brno by Trigger Happy (if he still has the unfinished track)
Estonia - Pirita-Kose-Kloostrimesta by Trigger Happy and Mad Dan
Denmark - Roskilde by postman

I kind of did send you a PM about it :P Nah, just the liveries as is will be fine, although the palette I want to use makes the blue on the Bugatti look brown. Is it alright if I edit the color of that to make it work with the palette? And of course changing the xyz values to make the cars unable to drive right through each other :D

Huh, maybe I accidentally hit cancel instead of send or something :? I'll get those fixed up and post the pack as soon as I can. I've got another crazy week, so it may not be for a little bit, but there's still plenty of time before the series is supposed to start. I'll list the tracks I'm planning on using (not necessarily in this order):

Avus 1937 by Trigger Happy
Bremgarten by BBA
Donnington 1937 by Trigger Happy
Limlog by AleksiNir
Monaco '29-'71 by Speedfreek
Rouen by BBA
