NAGRCA GTR Management Compo Rules
1. Starting a team
b. You must select a manufacturer that you wish to race for. Choose carefully, because you cannot change manufacturers. You must pay for 2 cars out of your starting budget, plus an engine for each car. You must also select a tire manufacturer. You cannot change once you have selected. Note that the cost is paid every round, not just at the beginning of the season.
c. You must select, purchase, and equip a suspension and a rear wing for your cars. You may opt to purchase and equip a turbo, front aero devices, or any parts from the miscellaneous section. More details in section 3.
d. Choose the numbers that your cars will be. Numbers are first come, first serve. Any combination of 1, 2, or 3 digits is allowed, except for 1 and 2, reserved for the defending champion team.
b. Team member signings will happen at the same time as driver signings. You may submit a prioritized list of up to 3 team members, and indicate how many of them you wish to sign should you have the best offer for all of them. (Example: you only want to sign 1 team member, but you submit 3. You would indicate in your PM that you only wish to sign 1 of the team members. In the case that you were outbid for your first choice, but win your second and third choice you would only sign your second choice). You may offer any salary amount of at least their listed salary. Highest offer gets the contract. In the event of a tie, random.org will be used to determine the winner.
c. Sponsor signing will take place two days after driver/team member signings. You may submit up to 3 offers per driver (6 total). You may offer a contract amount lower than the base offer, this can increase your chance of signing the sponsor. The team with the best offer will win the contract. The best offer is determined by the formula [Min_Offer/Offer]+[Prestige/Pref_Prestige]+[Personality/Pref_Personality](if applicable). In the event of a tie, random.org will be used to determine the winner.
d. You may hire a new team member after any round. Simply set the “Round Hired” column to the appropriate round number, and set the “Round Fired” column to active. Team members hired in the pre-season are hired at round 0. You can have up to 5 different team members throughout the season. You can have all 5 active at once, or fire and hire a new one each round.
e. Drivers and team members may be fired at the value of half of their remaining contract. To fire a driver or team member, simply change the status of their Round Fired column from Active to the round number when you are firing them. When you fire your driver, you may hire a new driver. This new driver cannot be fired. Set their “round hired” to the same round as the fired driver.
f. If after any round a driver’s prestige falls below his sponsor’s minimum, that contract will be terminated. Set the number under the contract status to the round number, and sign a new sponsor. Be sure to set that sponsor to active from unused.
b. In order to purchase a part, simply change the “Available” box to “Purchased” in the dropdown menu for that part. The “Unequipped” box will now turn orange, and you can equip the part by changing the box to “Equipped” using the drop down menu for that part. The box will turn green and the upgrades will be applied to your car’s stats.
c. Parts bought are applied to both cars. The price listed is for 1 car, thus you will be paying twice the amount shown when you purchase a part.
d. You must have a suspension and a wing equipped to your car. All other parts are optional. You may only equip 1 suspension, wing, and turbo. For front aero, you are only allowed to equip one of the blue highlighted splitters. All of the other parts may all be equipped at the same time for front aero, but only one splitter may be equipped. All miscellaneous parts may be equipped at the same time.
e. If you have purchased more than one wing, suspension, or turbo, you may swap them between rounds by setting the one you want used to equipped, and any others to unequipped.
f. In the Car Setup tab, there are 3 adjustments you can make. Gear Ratio balances between acceleration and top speed. The negative numbers give you more power, positive more top speed at the expense of the other. Wing angle balances between downforce and drag, and can change your top speed and grip at the extremes of the adjustment. Negative numbers will give you greater speed and less resistance, while positive numbers increase your grip and downforce at the expense of the other. Suspension balances between power and grip, and can change the top speed at the extremes. Negative numbers give more power and less grip with more top speed, while positive numbers give less power and top speed with more grip. The skills of team members can improve the car, as well as the abilities of some drivers or sponsors. Driver or sponsor car improvements are entered manually in the miscellaneous row.
a. Races will have an entry cost of 20 per team. The money is taken out automatically before the round is run.
ii. Focus
a. Drivers will have their focus checked against individual random numbers. The lower a driver’s focus, the higher the chance that they will lose an AI level or 2 for the race weekend. A random number from 1-10 is compared to the driver’s focus. If the number is above, they are “distracted” and lose 1 AI level for the race weekend. If the number is 4 or more above the focus, they are “lacking focus” and lose 2 AI levels for the race weekend. If the number is 4 or more below the focus, the driver is “in the zone” and gains 1 AI level for the weekend.
iii. Qualifying
a. All cars will run 3 solo laps to qualify
b. The fastest lap of the session is the qualifying time
c. Pole winner gains 0.1 Prestige.
d. Based on times, cars will be placed 4 heats of 6 cars. Any additional cars will not qualify and lose 1 Prestige.
e. If less than 12 teams enter a race, privateers will be used to fill the grid.
f. Drivers that qualify for the heats earn 5 money for their team.
iv. Heats
a. The 4 heats will be run for a specified race length. The winners of each heat automatically transfer to the A-Main. The 2nd place finishers transfer to the B-Main. The 3rd place finishers transfer to the last chance dash.
b. Points are awarded 6-5-4-3-2-1 in heats.
c. Drivers advancing to the A-main gain 0.3 Prestige. Drivers advancing to the B-main gain 0.1 Prestige. 4th place loses 0.3 Prestige, 5th place loses 0.5 Prestige, and last place loses 0.8 Prestige.
d. Money is awarded 40-30-20-15-13-10
v. Last Chance Dash
a. The Last Chance Dash will be the same length as heat races.
b. Top two finishers advance to the B-Main.
c. No points, money, or Prestige is awarded in the Last Chance Dash.
vi. B-Main
a. The B-Main will be run for a specified distance. The top 2 transfer to the A-main. No points are awarded in the B-Main.
b. Drivers that transfer to the A-Main gain 0.1 Prestige.
c. Money is awarded 10-8-6-5-5-5
vii. A-Main
a. The A-Main is run for a specified distance.
b. Points are awarded 10-6-4-3-2-1
c. Money is awarded 100-80-60-50-40-30
d. Prestige is awarded 0.8-0.6-0.5-0.4-0.3-0.2
viii. Team/Manufacturer Points
a. Team points are scored as the sum of the team's two drivers.
b. Manufacturer points are scored as follows:
Only the best finishing car of a manufacturer scores. Points are given 11-10-9-8-7-6 in the A-Main, plus the 1 bonus point. In the B-Main, cars score 4-3-2-1 for the final 4 positions (those that did not transfer to the A-Main). If a manufacturer does not make it to the A or B Main, it scores no points. (Example: A-Main finishing order is 1. Speedtec, 2. Speedtec, 3. Kaikori, 4.Weston, 5. ARC, 6. Weston. B-Main finishing order (ignoring those advanced to the A-Main) is 3. ARC, 4. Diablo, 5. Kaikori, 6.Diablo. Speedtec would score 11, Kaikori 9, Weston 8, ARC 7, and Diablo 3.)
b. Make sure you save some money, if you go broke you are out of the championship.
c. A lot of the functions will have to be done by the series manager, so there will be a Google spreadsheet on which you can see the total status of your car and team.
The Base AI is the base level of the AI for the driver, generally between 80 and 96.
Prestige determines how well a driver can attract and attain sponsors. This is a starting value, it can go up or down during the season based on performance. Generally starts between 3 and 10.
Personality determines how well drivers handle themselves off track. This can also be a factor in sponsorship opportunities, a driver with low personality may not be attractive to some sponsors.
Focus is how well a driver may perform on race day. Lower focus values can result in lower AI values during the race weekend. The effect is determined randomly at the start of the race weekend. Ranges from 1 to 9, 1 being worst focus, 9 being best.
Potential is the driver’s potential for improvement over the course of the season. Along with Team Members with high training values, a driver with high potential may be able to add a few of points to his base AI stat throughout the season. A driver with negative potential may lose skill throughout the season. There may also be a gain or loss before the season starts. This is a somewhat random process monitored by the game manager. Ranges from -2 to 5, -2 being a chance of losing skill, 0 being no chance of improvement, and 5 being a good chance.
Salary is the amount you must pay the driver for each race. It also must be paid when the driver is signed.
Winnings % is the minimum percentage of the winnings earned that the driver will take as part of their salary. You can offer a higher % during the signing lottery which will improve your chances of signing the driver, but they will not sign a contract with a lower Winnings %.
Preferred car is the car that the driver favors or is used to driving. They will get a +1 bonus to their skill if driving their preferred car. Having a drivers preferred car will slightly increase the chance of them signing during the signing lottery.
Special is a driver’s special ability. Most are positive, a few are negative. This will affect his and his teammates performance during the race weekend.
Team Members Page
Salary is the amount you must pay the Team Member for each race. It also must be paid when the Team Member is signed.
Engine is the Team Member’s skill in working on engine improvements. Team Members with a high Engine skill will be able to get you a few more points of power. Ranges from 0-5, with 0 being no skill and 5 being best skill.
Aero is the Team Member’s skill in improving the aerodynamics of the car. Team Members with high Aero skill will be able to reduce the air resistance of your cars. Ranges from 0-5, with 0 being no skill and 5 being best skill.
Chassis is the Team Member’s skill in improving the setup of the car. Team Members with high Chassis skill will be able to increase the handling of the car. Ranges from 0-5, with 0 being no skill and 5 being best skill.
Research is the Team Member’s skill in Researching improvements to the car. This also works in combination with the various mechanical skills of the Team Member when researching. Team Members with high Research skill increase the speed with which you can research small improvements to your cars. Ranges from 0-5, with 0 being no skill and 5 being best skill.
PR is the Team Member’s skill in public relations and handling money. Team Members with high PR skill can increase the value of your sponsor contracts. Ranges from 0-5, with 0 being no skill and 5 being best skill.
Training is the Team Member’s skill in training drivers. This works in combination with the potential rating of drivers. A Team Member with high Training can help improve high potential drivers quickly and prevent negative potential drivers from degrading. Ranges from 0-5, with 0 being no skill and 5 being best skill.
Sponsors Page
Base Payment is the maximum amount the sponsor will pay each week (not including bonuses). You can offer a lower payment from the sponsor during sponsor negotiations.
Preferred Prestige is the prestige of a driver that a sponsor would like to have. A higher prestige for a driver will increase the sponsor’s interest in your driver.
Preferred Personality is the personality of a driver that a sponsor would like to have. A higher personality for a driver will increase the sponsor’s interest in your driver.
Minimum Prestige is the minimum that they will allow your driver to have. They will not sign with a driver that is lower than that, and if the driver falls below that during the season, the sponsor will leave.
Special is the special bonus that a sponsor will give you for completing a certain target on a race weekend. A few restrict what kind of driver or team the sponsor will sponsor.
Cars Page
The cars page gives you information on the cars you can select. It shows the base price for 1 car (your payment will be double that) along with the stats of the car. Each car also has two engine options for you to choose from (again, priced for a single engine, your price will be double). You must choose a car and an engine for that car.
Tires Page
Here the options for tires are shown. Note that you choose a manufacturer and keep the same one throughout the season, you may not switch partway through. The cost shown is both the cost to sign the contract and the cost for each round. So you will be paying 7 times the number shown by the end of the season. Keep this in mind
First up are a couple of fairly fast, wide open tracks in the form of Morton Bay and Speedsteak Layout 3.
Next, we come to the technical, short, and tight Moore Belt followed by a course with long straights and tight turn, Howard Shore. This track could force some interesting decisions between handling or raw speed.
The final two stops in the series are El Dragon, a street course with a lot of personality and opportunities for tight racing, and the fast, twisted course of the Rivears International layout.
Now, some more on the cars in the spoiler (again to save space)
Weston Typhoon- Weston, as always, focused the design of this car on aerodynamics. The car is built to minimize drag, allowing them to reach better speeds. However, this is offset by their slightly weaker motors which have less power than other, similar cars in the series. Weston is hoping to make a bit splash on the GTR circuit with their improved version of the Typhoon.
ARC Venom- The Venom is the American Racing Company's entry into the GTR series. ARC, a company that tends to focus on raw power above all else, did nothing different than their usual with this beast. Boasting some of the highest power in the series, these cars will get up to speed quickly. Whether the drivers can handle these powerful but ungainly beasts is another question entirely. Only the season will answer that question.
Kaikori Ninja- Like the car's name, this small, relatively unknown company made racing headlines with their announcement of entering the series. The Ninja holds quite a few surprises, as this small, agile car just may have the ability to shock the field and take home the trophy at the end of the season. This company and their teams will be one to keep an eye on as the season progresses, they are the big unknown. Will their car succeed, or will it fail miserably?
Diablo Manta- The Manta is the budget entry into the series, and at first glance appears weaker than the other entries in the series. Diablo is known for making low budget performance cars for those who want a thrill for less than the usual price, and that appears to be the case. Don't mistake "low budget" for "cheap" though. The Manta is the best of their offering, and with cheaper parts available and the right team to drive it, Diablo just might have the makings of a champion.
Submissions for driver and team member signing are open right now. Drivers and Team Members will select teams on September 27th. Sponsors will sign on the 30th. You can submit sponsor offers along with you Driver and Team Member submissions.
To sign up, all I need is your team name, which car/engine/tire combination you will run, and the two numbers of your cars. I will be running 5 teams, one for each manufacturer in order to beef up the field of cars. I will put driver/team member/sponsor submissions for each team in a password protected zip file in this thread, and provide the password after driver selections in order to avoid suspicion of cheating.
So come on and join the fun, the more managers the more fun it will be. FYI, I am planning to do the commentary videos again if I can get my video recording software to work. It ate the tutorial video I made for the sheet so for now there isn't one.
