Rules against "backseat moderator" posting?

While kind reminders and such are nice, and yes, I'm guilty of this too - backseat moderating just drags a thread's topic further OT rather than the intended effect of putting it back on topic. I think there should be rules against backseat moderating - if something violates the rules, report it?

Gets annoying after a while.

on one hand I like, that it can give a ''advice from mate'' friendlier than a ''rude mod'', which is good for bumps or off-topic, but in some cases it's useless, especially when a mod must edit a post to solve the problem (delete something like rule-breaking link, nasty/nude picture, piracy, spams etc.). Than is always using the report button much better both for other members and mods too.

Well, I consider myself a bit like "moderating" a bit some threads so I feel concerned about the thing... So if you think that my last post was some kind of joke or spam, you're off the rails. Damn!

You also need to be careful with what you're saying. Re-read that post and see what I mean. And there are enough actual mods to sort things out, we don't need pointless posts from non-mods. Report it and let the relevant mod or admin deal with it.

You know, that you're doing wrong, but you're doing it anyway. Raph, we all hare are very patient people, but you're risking sometimes a lot. However you don't need to kill yourself, a ban (at least temporal) would be completely enough. Last warning, be careful to not post off-topics any more in future, otherwise ....
