The football (soccer) thread *spoiler*

Post by Martyn »

Fantastic win for Tottenham tonight, just a shame that that game will be remembered for Mathieu Flamini's horror tackle and Gennaro Gattuso proving that he is a waste of oxygen.

Hannu, who art in Finland, Räbinä be thy name. Sim racers come, races are won, at Agari, as at Xupong. Give us this day our version 1.06, and forgive us all our impatience, as we race those who challenge against us. Lead us not into boredom, but deliver us from work. And Birmingham failed. Miserably. -.- Zigic probably broke the offside record.

Today mine CR Flamengo(actual team from Ronaldinho, ex-Milan and Barcelona) vs Murici FC, at midnight GMT!
PS: What is the result from the Everton FC game?
PS2: Can you change the title to soccer, to avoid confusion with the handegg(aka american football)?

it's not necessary IMHO, FIFA uses word football too, majority of users are Europeans, so soccer would just confuse them and our forum uses basically British English language pack, so it's understand-able using this term too. But it can be added as alternation, not replacement.

Everton lost 2-0 to Bolton on Sunday.

Would have been a good week of football had Charlton not lost to Hartlepool

Fun fact: 2 out of the last 3 and 3 out of the last 5 World Cup host nations call it "soccer" ;)

That's due to making the separation certain. At least it's not like Australia where football can mean:

- Association Football (Soccer)
- Australian Rules Football
- Rugby League
- Rugby Union

To be fair, only the top two can have the name football attached to it. None the less. I'm assuming many people here play football? I don't follow it as much as I should but my local team, the Central Coast Mariners are in the A-League semi final this weekend. Wish I could be there to watch it.

Congratulations and commiserations to non-league Crawley Town, who today were VERY unlucky to lose to Manchester United. Only Wes Brown's header seperated the 2 teams in a game which Crawley were by far the better side.

THIS IS EVERTOOON!
GO AHEAD TOFFEES!

Actual brazilian champion(Fluminense FC) losed on pso for Boavista FC, unknown team from Saquarema, unknown city on regional championship. Discounting the CR Vasco da Gama(remember from Vasco da Gama?), who losed 4 games and doesn't arrived to the playoffs, only one from the Big Four from Rio will arrive on the 1st half final. And it will be... CR FLAMENGO!

I'm really confused as to the relevance of moderating powers, I'm in the cars section where Bba would certainly not end up as a mod (he'd be in the tracks section if not a global mod)

Anyway, I am indeed ecstatic at the fantastic victory that our lads put on tonight, showing what a team of mostly British players can do in a big game - Foster was immense, Johnson was his usual rock-solid self, Carr and Ferguson commanded the field, and Bowyer was his usual energetic self.

Glad to see that Arsenal, Chelski and Liverpool all got beaten recently against supposedly inferior opposition.

Is anyone against me when I say that Roger Johnson deserves a chance in an England shirt? And Dann when he's fit again.

Good luck Pawel, shame it didn't work out at the Valley for you
