GeneRally Virtual TCG - Discussion

Post by The MNZ »

Hello to you all. Again.

6 months ago i posted this joke:
And Herbal sent me this PM about that:
Herbal wrote:Hello Manzur,

in the moment I've seen your cards about some members, some idea came across my mind. What if we'd make a GR History card game? GeneRally's tenth birthday closes, and I think it'll be lucky, if we begin the work early enough. Just because getting ten years' GR players, who made some kind of good stuffs for this community. I'm trying to get some old people and some historical stuffs (old pictures, avatars, cars, infos etc.), so we could play GR even offline. Note, this is just a plan, so it may still be abandoned, but then... it would be a cool stuff, wouldn't it? ;) Please tell me your opinion, and if you would like to help in this... :D

Cheers,
Herbal
Basically he went to build a TCG based on GeneRally. Now that i am really back on the black i want to proceed the project. I want your opinion about that, a little spin-off to GeneRally. A card game.
How about the rules? Let's see.
So, again, i want to know what about it. Not a bad idea release it at the end of year since GR is 10 years old.

Peace, Manzur.

Maybe each member would have a level, and the level would depend on how long you've been in GR, 1 for each year? xD And the more level the card has, the more powerful ^^

You know that I'm still for that idea! ;) I try to contact some old faces (TuomoH, LongBow, etc.) to help your work.

Now i'm going to give an idea to the rules:

There are three types of cards: Driver Cards, Car Cards and Build Cards. A driver card is basically a GRIF/RSC user, and a build card will change some value. The game will be played with a world.
Each Driver Card will have some atributes in what it's better. If the world is mainly from that atribute, the points of that driver card increases. I.e. TuomoH's card will be good in [roa], in [ral] and in [mic] worlds. So if my opponent plays a build card to decrease the world size, TuomoH gain points, cuz the world is smaller, in favor of his [mic] attribue. Then, if i play a build card to "urbanize" the world, he lose points cuz the [roa] atribute is being replaced with [stc]. (also would be good to add a [sno] atribute to snowy worlds)

Cars will give a boost to certain attributes. I.e. open wheel cars give a boost to [cir], sleighs would boost [sno], etc. Some of the driver cards will be more specialized in car cards than in build cards. So, monsters specialized in car cards will have low value in all but their cars give an extra boost.
Driver cards can have extra effects, mainly the ones that aren't so specialized.

I.E. Ms..:
Trackmaker/carmaker
[cir][roa][wat][ral][stu][oth]
[open-wheel][rally][boat][others]
Power Points: 2340
Driver Effect: You can send 1 Build Card and 1 Car Card from your hand to the used card zone to select 1 Driver Card your opponent controls. Send the selected card(and any Car Cards on it) back to your opponent's hand.

That's an example.
So, what about this way?

I approve these rules!

But still need to know how the game itself works. Since now we only know how the cards work XD

No problem for me, too. I like those games which are a bit complicated :D

This is a great idea, I just hope you (or we) think this well through and take as much time as it's needed. The TCG is all about game mechanics and balance, we should really focus on that.. And of course, if someone with some artistic talent and Photoshop skills would create the card art, it's a win! :goal:

My suggestion for the rules in the start of the game, since you stated there were 3 different kinds of cards.

First, both players draw 4 cards. Then, if they have only one type of cards in their hand, they can choose and add 1 card, from both of the two other groups, and add them to their hand. If they have 2 different groups in their hands, they could choose and add 1 card from the last group to their hand. And maybe if they had all kinds of groups in their hands, they could choose and add any card to their hand?

I would be interested in working on the rules/making some cards, once it comes to that...

As far as I can remember, yes, provisional card designs and rule systems were based on Yu-Gi-Oh
