In Windows 8 you can also press WindowsButton + Printscreen, then the screen will be saved in Pictures/Screenshots folder (or similar).

@XYY, I'm not sure but in other OS'es from Microsoft that also should work

@YonNie, at least in my versions of Windows XP and Windows 7 it never worked.
