F1FG Forum Racing Game
F1FG Forum Racing Game
Welcome to the first forum racing in the GeneRally forums.
Rules
1. Race start times will be randomly picked, as long as there is no accidental favouritism towards a particular player or time zone.
2. Race starts will be signaled in the thread, for example:
Australian GP starts at 16:35 GMT, lasting one hour.
All you have to do is to post "finish" at the time of the race. False started (players who finished before the race starts) will be DSQed.
3. You can join by just posting ##Join and the team name (eg. ##Join Ferrari). Teams must be past, present or future F1 constructors.
4. There are 2 members per team.
5. There will be a maximum of 26 participants (13 teams) in the game. Once all the teams are full (all teams will be F1 of course!), there will be a possibility to create new teams, but only if all previous teams are full at the time.
6. If you do not participate for 4 races in a row without reason then you can/will be replaced. You will be allowed to re-join a season even if you quit or are replaced earlier, so long as there is a place for you.
7. The race will last for a length of time, which will be stated with the start time. Once it has ended, no one can finish, even if spots are empty.
8. Finishing twice in same GP will result in DSQ from that race.
9. You are not allowed to edit your Finish posts in between the start/finish of any GP, and if you do, you will receive a DSQ for that race.

EDIT: Also, let's say you randomly choose a starting time that is normally a time when you are fast asleep (say, 3 a.m. your time)? How will you start the race?

Start times will be random and only I will know. Check Rule #2.bhz wrote:##Join McLaren

We need a minimum of 12 players before starting the first race.

Hannu, who art in Finland, Räbinä be thy name. Sim racers come, races are won, at Agari, as at Xupong. Give us this day our version 1.06, and forgive us all our impatience, as we race those who challenge against us. Lead us not into boredom, but deliver us from work. For thine is the GeneRally, and the AI, and the race cars. Amen!
Re: F1FG Forum Racing Game
No...that's not my question
You said start times will be random, and that you will start the race
What if the start time chosen is a time when you (resir014) are fast asleep (e.g. 3am?)
How will you log on to post the "Start GP" message?

No, I won't pick such timebhz wrote:What if the start time chosen is a time when you (resir014) are fast asleep (e.g. 3am?)
All start times will be randomly picked by me, so I won't start the race while I'm fast asleep.

So you need to take in consideration, that when you're not sleeping, many of us are!

So this will be biased toward people who are in the same timezone as you (they'll be awake when you are)resir014 wrote:No, I won't pick such timebhz wrote:What if the start time chosen is a time when you (resir014) are fast asleep (e.g. 3am?)

Re: F1FG Forum Racing Game
And uhh... I kind of didn't get the whole idea of this game. Is the one who says finish quickest the winner? Or is there somekind of a random number generator that randomizes the positions this way or something?
And indeed, there will be no chance for those guys who happen to live on the other side of the globe since they will most likely be asleep while you post the start message.

Re: F1FG Forum Racing Game
Yep. Just the one who posted "finish" the quickest wins.1nsane wrote:And uhh... I kind of didn't get the whole idea of this game. Is the one who says finish quickest the winner? Or is there somekind of a random number generator that randomizes the positions this way or something?
See an example here.
And by the meaning random, I choose it, whether day or night, as long as it doesn't disadvantage some continents.1nsane wrote:And indeed, there will be no chance for those guys who happen to live on the other side of the globe since they will most likely be asleep while you post the start message.

If not, people who are sleeping when you're awake (a.k.a. the opposite side of the globe) are at disadvantage

At least BEFORE I went to sleepbhz wrote: So you WILL post "start" if you're fast asleep?
Also, the race doesn't end immediately after I started it. There are gaps (like 4 hours, 1 day, or more, it's all random) before I end it

If there are some hours which you won't post the start message at (ex. 2am your time), people where it is 2pm their time when it is 2am your time (other side of globe) will have disadvantage. Big disadvantage.resir014 wrote:And by the meaning random, I choose it, whether day or night, as long as it doesn't disadvantage some continents.
Until this problem is fixed, I will

Re: F1FG Forum Racing Game
The only way to cure this would be either to use some bot or have another guy to start the race from other side of the globe.
Re: F1FG Forum Racing Game
Gah, every forum games I created are such a fail
Unfortunately, because this is how the game works, there are no actual fix to Rule #1. That's it.

Re: F1FG Forum Racing Game
Hehe, well.. It just sounds a bit complicated for an international forum, that's all. If you can work that part out, there should be no problem why it wouldn't work.
Re: F1FG Forum Racing Game
It may be good, but...
If someone starts, he can't participate. So nobody would like to be winner, because he would get 25 points and 0 in the next, and for eg. 2. and 3. place in two races he would earn 33 pts.

Re: F1FG Forum Racing Game
Subtract the biggest amount of wins achieved by one player from the results counted towards the championship.
Rampage.
Re: F1FG Forum Racing Game
OK guys, I think I just found the solution to the problems on Rule #1. I'll explain it to you.
Race starts will be signaled in the thread, for example:
Australian GP starts at 16:35 GMT, lasting one hour.
Then players will post "finish" at the time of the race. False started (players who finished before the race starts) will be DSQed.
There are also several rule changes on Post #1, marked with red.
How do you like this idea?

Re: F1FG Forum Racing Game
But you'll STILL post: "race starts!", or the time of post (if it's after 16.35 for example) will decide?
Re: F1FG Forum Racing Game
No. You just post finish right at 16:35 GMT (make sure to check your time settings in the forum) without my command and it's done.Paw wrote:But you'll STILL post: "race starts!", or the time of post (if it's after 16.35 for example) will decide?
So if you post finish at 16:34 GMT that's a jump start, and you'll be DSQed

Re: F1FG Forum Racing Game
Can somebody explain me system of this game? Did I understood it well, that it's based on idea ''post a reply asap after start of the race'' and who will be faster will receive more points?
My GR Racing Stats; thanks to GWR!
