GeneRally v1.10 - UPDATE DUE SOON

Post by James »

Just a quick message to let you all know that we're already working on an update for GeneRally v1.10 (tentatively titled v1.10b), which will aim to address a number of the issues that users have been experiencing and reporting. We cannot guarantee to fix all of the bugs with this first update, but we are aiming to fix as many as possible. Our wish is to get this update out before the end of February, but we can't make any guarantees on that front until we know what bugs we're going to attempt to fix this time around, and how long they will take to fix.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have made us aware of bugs via the bug report thread - your help in identifying these issues has been invaluable. If we think we can fix issues that we marked as 'Cannot reproduce', we may get in touch with you prior to the release of v1.10b to ask you to test the fix for us. :bsmile:

The support we've seen from the release of v1.10 is absolutely amazing (as of this post, about 6,000 people have downloaded the game) - so thanks for that :bg:

If you come across more bugs, please don't hesitate to report them and we'll see what we can do!

Just to update you all: a large number of reported bugs have been fixed already, and there are one or two more we're looking into including in this bug-fix release. A couple of bugs will not be fixed this release, but will be fixed in v1.2 (if/when that comes along), either due to how minor they are, or due to us not having the time to adequately research and fix the issues.

Our testers will receive an updated version of GR (tentatively numbered v1.10b) sometime this weekend if all goes to plan, and will be under instruction to thoroughly test the bugfixes.

We thank everyone for their patience as Markku and I familiarise ourselves with the game's code and structure (which, with over 35k lines of code, is tricky) and attempt to deliver as many bug-fixes and new features as we can :)

Here's a list of the things that are changed/fixed in the upcoming v1.10b. Please note, we couldn't fix everything in time for this release - but we are working on a number of other bugs. A particularly important fix is highlighted in red - we made a small omission in v1.10, that needed to be fixed to help those who are updating their tools for v1.10 - when the time comes, remember to re-save all your v1.10 tracks using v1.10b (simply open in the TE, and then save again).
Game:
  • Modified armco barrier colour to be a more visible, light blue colour (the only other viable colour available).
  • Implemented an experimental feature to adjust zoom based on screen aspect ratio.
  • Grid order for the first race of a season is now defined by player selection order when using "points" or "points, reversed" grid modes.
  • FIXED: Driver statistics dialog now shows correctly after being reset.
  • FIXED: Mouse cursor is no longer visible during the race.
  • FIXED: Using 'end race' on the final race of the season doesn't quit directly to the main menu at least one race has been completed.
  • FIXED: Rendering distance increased to solve bug on some higher resolutions.
  • FIXED: UI no longer changes colour when adjusting a driver's primary colour in full-screen mode.
  • FIXED: Start lights no longer remain visible in a replay.
Editor:
  • FIXED: Saves with correct v1.10 flag. Please re-save all tracks made with v1.10 with v1.10b.
  • FIXED: No longer crashes when loading a path with spaces via the command line (wrap all paths with quotes).
Not going to give a date on this, in case we miss it for some reason... but this version is in the final stages of testing now :) Many thanks to all of those who reported bugs.
