Chatroom?

I was reading the FAQ, and saw that GR used to have a chat room but not anymore. Why not create a new (unofficial) chatroom hosted here? I don't think it will cause any problems.

Not bad idea, but I'm not sure, if we really need it (now in days of msns, icqs, googletalks, fbs and another things). BTW Can somebody of older guys tell us about fate of the official IRC-Channel?

Yep, IRC is an excellent idea. That's where I talk the most anyways. I think it's the better place for group chatting, instead of MSN with all the silly graphics.

I was about to create a new IRC channel for GeneRally, but then seeing DXTR's post here, I decided to stumble upon Rich Nagel's GR website, and all I found is this. (sorry for the major bump)

Tested it, still working, and, you guessed it. Abandoned. And pretty much outdated.

I opened an IRC channel #gene-rally at Quakenet. You can join there from http://webchat.quakenet.org/
There are some people right now and seeing as there are pretty much no other chats present, it can be used for small discussions.

The problem with many of these things is, IMO, that they lead to only a few people talking to each other, and not the whole community. An "official" IRC channel, or even a chatroom on this webpage, I think would be better.

Not as good, IRC related to here is much better - MSN group requires you to have an up-to-date MSN, which not everyone can or wants to have.

And overall I like personally IRC waay more when it comes to group chatting, since it doesn't blink the whole darned screen when someone just writes a message.
