Räbinä Awards discussion thread

Post by Mad Dan »

Hi, I want to ask you if we can make again something like last year - Rabinna Awards 2009.
I don´t remeber how exactly was the election and so long, so I hope that Ivo and Ed Santos will give it a try ;). I know that now we are just 50 here but I hope it will be possible...

regards,

You don't know, but in the mods only section we were having discussions about the Räbinä awards and I also think it would be a great idea to have it back. :P

Last years rules thanks to Bing. It was way better than Google to search in cache.
In Bold - things that should be/might be changed
Rules of Räbinä Awards 2008:

1. Introduction: Räbinä Awards is annual election of Trackmaker, Carmaker, Competition organizer, Commentator, Rookie and Community member of the year from members of GeneRally community. Räbinä Awards are organized by Räbinäs Awards Committee (AleksiNir, Ed Santos, Ivoshek).

2. Nominations:
A. Every member of the official GR forum is allowed to nominate.
B. Every member or constantly active, organized and directed group of members of GR community is nominate-able for all categories with exception of Rookie of Year.
C. Only a member of GR community, who posted first time in official GR forum during year 2008 is nominate-able for category Rookie of Year. A previous activity of member in another part of RSC forum than its GR section doesn't inhibit his nomination.
D. Member cannot nominate himself.
E. One member can nominate up to 7 members for each category.
F. The summary number of nominations for each category is not limited.
G. Member can nominate a nominee by sending a post in the nomination thread. The post must include the nominee's name and the category, which is he nominated for.
H. Members can nominate until 23.59.59 GMT of 5th January 2009.
I. Lists of nominations for all categories are included to the second post of the nomination thread.

3. Elections:
A. Every member of official GR forum can vote in all categories or in some of them.
B. Member can vote for one nominee per each category from its nomination list.
C. Member cannot vote himself.
D. Member can vote by sending a private message to AleksiNir.
E. Vote may include a reasoning of voter's decision.
F. Members can vote until 23.59.59 GMT of 25th January 2009.

4. Results and prize giving:
A. The most voted member wins each category.
B. In case of tie members share same position.
C. All votes (including its reasoning) and summarized results will be published in GeneRally Gala Thread 2008 as soon as possible after the end of voting term.
D. The committee can decide about awarding a member by Committee Honorary Award. The nomination and election rules aren't applied to this category.
E. The winner of each category will be awarded by Golden Räbinäs.
Of course, dates changes easily. Rabinas Comitee is represented only by Ivo, maybe Ed will too. Main things is with dates.
I suggest nomination from 1st till the end of 10th of January and election from 11 till 31st of January. So we'll have winners 1st of February.

BTW, is it possible to rename the thread to Rabina Awards Discussion thread?

amazing job, Buka! Lot of work saved. :-) Let's edit the rules as much as necessary.

And I remember one next mistake we did in first year - the results of each category should be included into the pack with award to allow discuss its results together with speech of winner.

Well in Gala thread was announced winner and his award was given to him. But the number of votes to him, who voted him, who was second and who were his voters etc. was published b Aleksi with big delay and for all awards in same time. IMHO it was not good for live discussion of the Gala thread.

One more problem.
1. So what about dates? How long nominations and elections will last.

I would wait with Nominees Thread for start of next week (after the banner will be done and its topic unstick). Then two weeks for nominations and another two for voting. Date of Gala Thread can be chosen later, also with relation with its moderator.

OK, Buka? And guys? :)

Lets talk about Rookies Nominations. We have no possibility to check who when had joined RSC. What to do?
For example, I surely remember that Halama, ado aka Mr. J. or Medal weren't at RSC in 2008, but I can't be sure with the others. For example, Sergey aka GR5000, I'm afraid had joined RSC in 2006 or so, but I absolutely can't remember whe he posted his first track.

So I ask everyone to check. If you do remember that someone from the nomination list was active in 2008 or earlier, please say it here.

can i suggest a category of 'Project Manager'
Hannu, who art in Finland, Räbinä be thy name. Sim racers come, races are won, at Agari, as at Xupong. Give us this day our version 1.06, and forgive us all our impatience, as we race those who challenge against us. Lead us not into boredom, but deliver us from work. For thine is the GeneRally, and the AI, and the race cars. Amen!

As told, other discussion out of nominations themselves to this discussion topic, please.

BTW I think, that these extraordinary projects are covered by Member of Year award.

More opinions, please? :)

Perhaps a "Wizard" award, to reflect the badge? I think the current awards are probably OK, though... there's always the Honorary Award for special cases... By the way, why aren't the Honorary Award winners listed in the nomination topic?
I like short, simple signatures!

maybe because they are not elected, so people cannot nominate to them. But I added them to the Buka's post - to mention their existence and value. :)

I would like to suggest a small change in the rules for this round only.

Under point 2.C.
Only a member of GR community, who posted first time in official GR forum during year 2010 is nominate-able for category Rookie of Year.

to

Only a member of GR community, who posted first time in official GR forum from 26 Dec 2009 to the end of year 2010 is nominate-able for category Rookie of Year.

And I'd change "in official GR forum" to "in GRIF" since absolutely no one has posted ni official GR forum last year. ;)
