Are you saying that Haq does only crap once a month? I think he's outputting about the same number of tracks than egamad on a month scale and - again I don't say that egamad's stuff is bad, it's very good - Haq's tracks have IMHO more quality...
I don't say either that I'd choose between one of the two, just that from the two, I think that Haq is deserving the "honor" to be the first to have an award... Anyways...

Where did you read that?

Unfortunately (or fortunately) awards are given not by users but by admins. So your IMHO and your post just spoil impression from new awards. As well as Darjo's (which is almost offending). IMHO.

Sorry if I sounded rude, I wasn't willing to offend anyone and I wasn't actually complaining about mods' decisions, I was just giving my opinion :(

I don't take it as rude and I was the one it was aimed at, so... ;) Don't worry Darjo.

And TGF, please tell me where the hell I said Dan made bad tracks.

I didn't want to be a part of this discussion, but now I feel I have to say something about all this.

First of all, in a very humble manner, I'm really happy for the award. It gives me affirmation that my creations have some weight in the GeneRally universe. But on the other side it has a bitter taste to it, knowing that people don't think I truly deserve it. The thing is, I never asked for it. And I never would have, knowing that a title like this can only come with hard work and dedication and quite frankly, I never considered myself to be an extremely popular trackmaker like Aleksi or BBA are. That's mainly because my passions are rally and other track types that are less represented (when I started trackmaking almost no rally tracks were being published, and IIRC Haq wasn't yet active back then, so rally wasn't that popular either). Like every other trackmaker I developed, and am stil developing, a personal style, but I try very hard to make my tracks as different and as diverse as I can. I enjoy experimenting and trying new and different things, even more, if other people like what I create. I try to publish lots of different track types, even if that means that I'm not a specialist in any of them. I always accepted criticism and tried to make the most of it, slowly but steadily improving. And somewhere along all this, I guess my work got appreciated by some people, even to the point, where I was given the Trackmaster award. I agree, it's not that transparent why I got it; Aleksi for sure got it for his ever wonderful style, outstanding AI lines and a taste for details, BBA got it for his remarkable recreations of RWL tracks in GeneRally, the same goes for Maciej1. All of them got confirmation also in ToM. But the same respectable people who saw their greatness, decided that I deserve the award too. Why that is, I repeat, I don't know. But I respect their decision and suggest that others do too.

And to answer on TGF's ranting about Haq not geting an award - Dan is in my opinion a very skilled trackmaker, one of my idols, my inspiration on many occasions and also a friend, and I would be most happy to see him get a Trackmaster award. But like Buka said, it's not our place to say, so there's no point to argue. Also it casts a shadow on Haq's good name, as it looks like you're arguing on his initiative (which is absolutely not true I believe!). But as far as I know him, he wouldn't, and hasn't, tried to get the award by arguing with the admins. Also I know that you didn't mean anything bad, but please, show some respect for admins' decision.

I hope I didn't offend anyone.

I would disagree with your point about your popularity, but that then is just my opinion. And I agree with you, Dan is not the sort of person to query an admin's decision. As I said, give it time, if he keeps up his current standards and improves on them (even the best can improve), it is only a matter of time. ;)

I´m sorry I started this....:(

I want to say that I´m not arguing to get an award, even if it´s my dream since I discovered GR community. I respect admins and their decision and I don´t have any problems with it ;).

I didn´t want to offend anyone in my first message, especially not egamad who is one of my favourite trackmakers and also my friend. He deserve his award, no doubts :).

Hope that it is clear now :).

I think, that is true, that egamad hasn't made so much tracks like e.g. Pahkasika, however egamad surely did lot of them - over 40 ATM. And IMHO his outstanding creativity is remarkable. :bg:

BTW Don't worry to say your opinion freely. Me or anybody around is not god, you may disagree or dispute it, definitely you don't have to be quiet. I read some really good points here, which stays in my mind. And believe me, update of the awards is harder thing than I ever expected. :? Be sure, that these ranks caused quite heavy headaches to certain people repeatedly.

Congratulations, new masters! Even if I'm new in the GR community I know your contributions to the game quite well (read RSC for 5 years, no net connection so just a passive member) and I am happy to see those new banners under your avatars!

Admins, have you talked about an award for racing legends, maybe? I still think that it would be good. When I take part in compos, I try to be closer to the best GR drivers, they inspire me to practice more, just like the new trackmasters inspire me to be a better trackmaker. I believe many of us feels this way.

I don't think it would be that necessary. However I was in the electors' group just because I'm one of the two founders of GRIF, so I don't have much influence in the future of Generally. I think neither Tuomo, nor James did think about adding one more award. Nonetheless, what I've wanted to say with it is, that it's just my thinking,

Mizzamar, you've forgotten that we had in a period a Generally World League, on side of GWR. IMO GWL was the one to present us the Racer of the Month. Many of us, compo managers did already run this competition (jo.sk, Murano, James C., myself and Buka), but this didn't show much interest in the last 6-8 seasons. That's why I think, we don't need a "GR speedy gonzalez" award: simply there wouldn't be much interest for it.

And what would decide a great driver? Fame? Speed? Most wins? Style? Habit? Encouraging drivers to race? There are too many factors which would decide a driver legend. However I know some awards could still be given to famous drivers, but then, you can just search the "racing chronicles" for them: in GWR. I think just talking about them is a great achievement.

And then, even in Formula-1 there are still questions who can be be considered as a legend. It would be just a subjective list IMO, too close to personal preference.

As all 3 other awards. In fact a rank partially based on some GWR stats can be most objective of all.

And no, Mizzamar, we haven't discussed it.

@DXTR: All right. You know the members of the community way better than me, you know better what they find important or unimportant. So if you say that people here at GRIF don't care about a drivers' master title, I have to believe you. I know that those members who are devoted to racing only are usually not so active in the forum, maybe they just wouldn't care indeed.

But I think differently, even if everyone is against the idea. I can only repeat my arguments: Trackmakers have ToM plus title, drivers have only GWR. Some drivers spent years racing, spend just as much time with GR as track/carmakers - so their commitment could be rewarded somehow here too, not only by GWR. I miss that.
If it's only me who misses a new title, then it's pointless to go into details about how to select the legends. If it's possible to select trackmasters, great drivers can also be selected, for sure. But I feel that I'm alone with this (I tried to start a discussion about it but it died) and pointless things should be stopped.
So this is my last post about the matter, I'll stop bothering you with it.

:woohoo:
Really awesome to get this award. Thank You very much for giving it to me. This award became one of my dreams pretty soon after I started releasing tracks and it means a lot to me to get this award. Also, I want to thank everyone who adviced me and who motivated me by commenting my tracks or simply by downloading them or voting/nominating them on ToM.

:happythanks:

Congrats to all others who got award!
