Post by SammieVL »

Here's my new track.
Its called Meilsteun cause it has some milestones.

Its a micro fullscreen track wich has 2 different versions, one dirt, one tarmac.

Heres a list of the milestones:
1 - My first micro track
2 - My first fullscreen track
3 - My first micro fullscreen track
4 - My first track that is the best with formula car
5 - My first track that features milestones
6 - My first track that has more than 5 milestones
7 - My first micro track that has milestones
8 - My first fullscreen track that has milestones
9 - My first micro fullscreen track that has milestones
10 - My first track with 2 different versions
11 - My first track with 2 different versions that features milestones
12 - My first trackpack (it has 2 different versions)
13 - Milestone just for being a milestone
14 - Sadly, there are no more milestones.
15 - This track doesnt has any more milestones at 15 so that is a milestone.
I hope you like it!

Wouter.

Dammit, i forgot to add that its also my first track with good bankings.

Easily your best track, good work!!
Hannu, who art in Finland, Räbinä be thy name. Sim racers come, races are won, at Agari, as at Xupong. Give us this day our version 1.06, and forgive us all our impatience, as we race those who challenge against us. Lead us not into boredom, but deliver us from work. For thine is the GeneRally, and the AI, and the race cars. Amen!

Probably, probably not. ToM tracks are normally big and have Lmap objects. (look at Maciej1's tracks such as Lingotto for example) However, a few tracks similar to this have been nominated in the past and rally tracks have won ToM. Anyway, well done Wouter. Your best track.
Look to the left ----------------> that's to the right, mate :(

reminds me of GRF´s tracks :).

Kerbs should be wider and texture of field could be better.

What about Dotsy? Its a even smaller track than this and it made it to the ToM.
I dont know who made it, but i think Darjo/DiSi could know.

There have been plenty of ToMs which have been micro tracks, and without a doubt some of them have been wonderful. Taking dotsy into consideration for instance.

But that tack was wonderful for many different reasons, it was unique at the time of being released, everything on the track worked together...everything was where it should have been. And without a doubt the easy nature of the track made it more fun than many other tracks at the time. Also the name was just so cute :bsmile:

But if we take you track into this instance, it's a very nice track, and I agree with others, your best.
But, asking for a ToM nomination doesn't help.

The track compared to other micro tracks... micro tracks that have been nominated, isn't exactly up to par. The dirt version for instance looks messy. The dithering is good, but over the top of the tarmac just undoes everything you put into the actual texture of it. But concentrating on the tarmac version:

Positives: The Hmap is fun.
The layout is simple enough to be fun.
Some object placement, like the booth/fence combo behind the pits is very good.

Negatives: Personally, I find the AI good, until driving past the pits, where they generally go wide and hit the pitmen.
The sand textures, I find are dull. The sand trap with the haybales on just looks ugly, and the 'field' with the bushes in doesn't really help your cause.
And I also don't really like the 'mound' with the tree on it in the middle. I understand it's always difficult to know what to put in places like that, but I just think it could have been better suited as a lake, whilst the mound could be taken somewhere else.

I'm not saying it's not ToM worthy, I'm just simply stating why I don't think it would be, maybe if it was released 2 or so years ago then it would be a different story, but when the times change, and more unique and... better looking fullscreen... or micro tracks are released... it just takes something a little more special for me to nominate it :sweatdrop:

But you're clearly improving and I look forward to your next venture in the fullscreen category cheerleader:
