[cir] Concrete Park

Post by eMeR »

Hi!

Here's my new track: Concrete Park
It's a fictional track in Germany. Why in Germany? - I don't know. :) It's got 5 layouts.

I hope you like it. :)

Why it should be .zip? Why not .rar?

The .rar format is far better than the .zip, its only disadvantage is you can't use it with Windows without downloading WinRAR - but as that's basically free (I know it isn't, but its only defense mechanism is to nag you after the trial expires) and is a small program, its really worth downloading it. xD

Every freeware compressing tool supports both and dozens of other next formats, nobody needs WinRAR itself.

BTW great track, just could be more zoomed. :)

This really replicates the feeling of the modern tilkedromes both in good and in bad. This really looks like it could be a 2015 adaptation of Hungarian GP.
The track is in the middle of nowhere, like the real modern tracks are, the track area is pumped with money and the spectator areas are AAA-class. But then the problems. Just like in the RL, the track seems to be practically completely flat. This makes the track a bit lifeless. Also, those red lines are nice at first, but in the end they just cause some dizzyness.

These are mostly some little details, but I like to dig to them just for the sake of trying to get the track look like a complete one... So, here we go.
Since the track side lines are like in Abu Dhabi, I assume the track is meant to be possible to drive also at night. But there are no lights around the track. These two ideas are clashing against each other quite a bit.
Also, you should choose which one is the main layout and then remove the white lines crossing that layout. Now the track is cut randomly at places and none of the routes are complete from the start to the finish.
And the combination of palm trees, fir trees, leaf trees and cactuses sure make an awkward combination on the outer parts.
The loop and the tunnel(I guess) look a bit weird. If it is a tunnel, I think the way it is put on the track it should also have the other end shown. Now it looks more like there was just a random loop done in the middle of the track before they realized there was nowhere to go.

The tyre marks on the grass, where there are some cars, look very nice and give a nice little touch on the graphics. The billboard thingies on the upper right area are very cool too. A nice use of lmap-graphics there.

So overall, a nice track which just needs a bit of fixing to get the complete feeling and maybe a little touch of H-map to give it more life. Nice job. :)

I guess the bigger issue is that now that windows itself can open zip files, they are the standard for compressed files/folders. It requires no download or install at all. That said, I enjoy the rar format much more. Except that you usually get a trial, so every time you open a file, it asks you to register. Can get tedious when downloading trackpacks for instance!

This is why 7zip > all, it's free.

Am I the only one who was thinking, "Paul Ricard" when looking at this track?
