[oth] [tpk] BmxSim
[oth] [tpk] BmxSim
This pack is a recreation of an old Commodore 64 classic Bmx Simulator. It includes 7 fullscreen tracks, 2 bikes and a soundset.
Since the purpose of the pack is to simulate that game to a large degree, the tracks look retro. The AI lines aren't perfect but as usual with tracks with hmap and tight curves it is always a compromise between speed and cleanliness of runs. Don't use much damage since there are no pits!
BMX T is a recreation of the original bike meant to be used with these tracks. Furthermore, BMX Cruise T is a longer version of the same bike and works with these tracks as well. Even though it did not appear in the original game I liked it enough to include it in the pack - consider it a bonus. The bikes haven't been tested anywhere else since they were created strictly for this pack - in fact, they are most likely too big and otherwise unrealistic for other tracks but naturally you may try them elsewhere if feel like it.
Finally, the sounds are from the original game.
For authentic Bmx Simulator gameplay, it is recommended to use BMX T and have only two players (human/AI) racing at once. Also, use the original race length.
Original race lengths
- BmxSim01: 3 laps
- BmxSim02: 3 laps
- BmxSim03: 3 laps
- BmxSim04: 3 laps
- BmxSim05: 1 lap
- BmxSim06: 5 laps
- BmxSim07: 5 laps

Haha... it's so hard to tell if that's original C64 or if it's GR!
Excellent work.

Oh.
My.
God.
This was one of my favorite games for Commodore about 20 years ago and it is unbelievable how great this remake is! It looks totally identical to the original and the gameplay is even better now!
What an idea! And how well it is made!
The greatest stuff for GR this year, or maybe ever!
Thank you for making it (I can't stop playing, you have opened a time portal to the past and I cannot close it )

Thank you very much, Haruna, Rendy and Mizzamar. I'm glad you like it so much.
It was one of my favorites 20 years ago as well and when I realized that it could be brought to GR in this detail, I thought why not bring some memories back. Luckily we don't have to play against scripted AI any longer.
Btw, thanks to Ivo for some feedback on the bike (without actually having a chance of testing it).

Re: [oth] [tpk] BmxSim
I've never played that game, as I never had a Commodore, but I looked it up and saw some screens. All I can say is WOW, this is an extremely accurate remake, so hat down to you, sir.
Entire set is very retro, and definitely very different from everything else I've seen for GR before. I've enjoyed it very much as It really is a top job, and I hope you'll continue making such great stuff.

Championship Jet Ski Simulator maybe?
Re: [oth] [tpk] BmxSim
Same here but after i also looked up some screens all i can say is that they are extremely precisely made, scary precisely made.egamad wrote:I've never played that game, as I never had a Commodore, but I looked it up and saw some screens.
The shadows and "water things" are very precisely made.
Kudos to you my friend
Excuse my inability to express myself
Re: [oth] [tpk] BmxSim
Of course the idea of making other games tracks in GeneRally, but the quality of these is somehow scary, it looks more like sequel to the game
That old indycar game would be nice too, though probably a bigger challenge

Re: [oth] [tpk] BmxSim
Thanks a lot, friends. It wasn't hard making it look similar to the original one in this case.

Old wolf strikes again
Just superb work...not much to add.
The only thing that you can try for "improving" the game play experience is try using Rich Nagel EGA 16-color palette which is part of the GeneRally PC Speaker Sound Pack Pro v1.0 (on his website) or his Gameboy palette which you can find on GPA.

Re: [oth] [tpk] BmxSim
After playing this mod I'm bit sad, that I'm part of generation, which missed the original game. So I can just thank you for this second chance. It's wonderful.
My GR Racing Stats; thanks to GWR!

Re: [oth] [tpk] BmxSim
I didn't know the sim and the game player, but watched its sim in YouTube (C64 Longplay - BMX Simulator). That was transplanted to GeneRally just as it is. In fact, your version is more Splendid (IMO).
BUT a only problem, the BMX don't fall over like the original sim.
6/5! Super job!

EPIIIIICCCCCC!
Congratulation your total conversion of GR is more than perfect!
Looking at the pictures I was convinced that they was some screenshots of the original game.
