Gravel, tarmac, snow. Whatever the surface, you'll find it here.

[ral] Project Loopstage Part One: Canada Rallye by Fechna

Post by Fechna »

Hi everybody!

This is my first and probably only track I´ll ever make. It´s Canada Rallye and my attempt to build a rally looptrack. :rally:
I have no experience with trackmaking, and this is TE and a little bit MSPaint only.

As developed in another thread, this is a "loopstage" that is primarily for one Player Time Attack on a rally stage, that can be driven for up to 100 times back and forth as you wish. It´s best with no AI/a "ghost AI" without crashing. It can also be driven with AI drivers, but there is a high risk of crashing after a few "laps".

So my questions are:

1. Do you like the concept?
2. Do you think (as I do) that t has a more "rallyish" feeling towards it that a "closed circuit"- aka rallycross track?
3. What do you think about my first track ever?
4. Would you like to see more loopstages, or do you prefer rallycross or "1-lap-stages"?

I´m very excited to get comments and general replies and, well answers to my questions!

1. The concept has potential, if it is used well. For a competition, maybe.
2. I don't see so much difference to a just rallycross track with variating routes.
3. Not so bad for a first track..
4. They're nice, but rallycross tracks just are just better to drive against AIs.

1.The concept is good.
2.More "rallyish".
3.As the first track is ok.
4.I prefer "1-lap-stages".
Sorry for my English

Landmap bridge usually looks better.

after my uni work is handed in i think i shall do one of these, its a great idea. there was a similar thing done by the slot car company NINCO a few years ago where they used a special single lane peice to loop right around on itself.

and this one is pretty good, although not quite the style i would have done, but the concepts obviously the same :D

edit: and yeah, id have done an lmap bridge...

edit2: the best pic i could find...

Like the idea (I drive alone usually), but strongly dislike that bridge (stops me driving on the ideal line) and the bit on the left where it drops to half the width. Still, pretty good for a first track.

Thank you for your nice replies! I wasn´t trying to make the best track ever, and I personally don´t mind normal bridges at all, but that´s a matter of taste. And the width is variing a lot in real rally, so...

But I was trying to make a point and I´m very, very, very excited that you Bouncebackability will do one! You are one of my personal new trackmaker-heros anyway! :heyea:  :trampo:

By the way, my Rallypack of the eighties is about 65% done.
