[ral] [roa] Hahmo

Post by One »

Hi there !

This is my first track release since something like two years.
The recent snowfalls inspirated me, this track is a free remake by my imagination of some streets in my city close to a lake.

The name of the tracks refers to Joonas Hahmo, finnish trance artist which I was listening to while seeking a name ..

I hope you will like it. :)

Looks fine, but to me it rather looks like a [roa] than like a [stc] :P

This is a great track! The long snowy turn is fun to drive, fun and slippery :3

It's cool how you go around the main road instead of using it. XD

I'd like to thank the one who gave me two stars and didn't take the time to explain his notation.
That's exactly why I really hesitate to release my work.

Working 3-4 hours on a track for this kind of thing isn't for me.

That happens when people check only the look of the track. This certainly is a fun track, maybe not a beauty, but still great to race on. :bg:

And yeah, Balázs is right - funny fact ATM is, that it has 6 ratings, but 5 downloads, so at least one of the ratings is based only on screenshot without a real clue of fun-factor, but it deserves max. IMHO. The stars are part of feedback, but I wouldn't bother my mind to be repelled from trackmaking just because of one individual rating of a somebody. There's no point to take the stars bit seriously until there's more than 3-5 ratings and even later I'd not over-rate them so much. ;)

BTW great job! I actually feel the street atmosphere in the bottom half of the track very much (with sidewalks bellow snow). :bg: The signs and lights make it somewhere quite tricky and hmap is superb, it took me several laps to find real ideal line in the top-right curve. :)

Don't let one poor star rating put you off releasing work, regardless of downloads/views etc.

It's all relative, which is why 'ratings' are never a true grasp of something, or someones ability, in all walks of life. From a track uploaded here, to a whole video game released by a large publisher.

This track, if viewed upon it's own merits, is certainly fun to drive, but it's not like it is the best of all time, and I'm sure you know that, I don't think it's possible for anyone to release the best track ever, hence, there should never be a 5 star rating given, as this means, perfect, nothing could be better... but then, a month down the line, you release another track, better than the last one... if going by the star rating, people think it's just as good as the previous track.

...I know it's deviating from this release and thread a little, but never take something as trivial as a star rating or a score out of ten to mean anything more than one persons material view on something.

This is not the question of the two stars who bother me, it's the absence of comments and explications.
How can I improve myself if I don't receive feedback ?

You can't.

I will give some advice :bg:

Delete the 3 useles pits, because they are useless  , and not so beautifull
Move a little bit the boat in that building, it would be better i think.
And would chage the 2 (ugly) red Walls by 4 Hayballs to make a circle.

What do you think about it?

For the rest, I like it because :
- It's tricky like [rwl] tracks
- and it's stay FUNNY!!!
- I LOVE the snow part
