[cir] [stu] Bellamy Park

Post by timmyc »

Here is my first track...
:cflag: Bellamy Park :cflag:

Thanks to Loonerty2 for helping with the design (on paper) during our free period.

I decided against the oil that I had in the WIP thread, as no-one seemed to like it... ;)

EDIT: BellamyParkV2 has a better view angle and zoom.

EDIT #2: New screenshot with a better resolution.

Very good, just view is from too far away. :) Great track on first. :drive:

Thanks :D

I was having problems with the view angle and zoom. I wanted it closer, but it kept cutting out pieces of the track.... :? If you don't mind, could you tell me what values you think I should use for zoom and view angle?

If you want to see whole square of the map, zoom level 103 works well, but I would choose level 90 probably, no matter, that parts of the bottom corners with water are hidden. ;)

Thanks for the quick reply.. :D

The new version has zoom 90 and view angle 45. I think it looks heaps better now.

Thanks again for the feedback.

IMHO, the best PoV is Zoom[82] and View_Angle[50].

The track maybe needs a bit more objects here and there... I dislike the dithering of the sandy top right area... Dithering on track could also be more continuous: Following the best racing line... :bg:

Thanks for this feedback too.

I was unsure of what objects to place, so to stop it from looking so blank, i made the top right section such a strange pattern.

I think angle 50 is a bit too high. The lowest i could get it without really affecting visibility was 45, and i think it increases the perspective of the hmap (which is probably the most important part in this track).

Thanks for the thoughts on my dithering. I really had no idea what I was doing, and everything was all a bit experimental (thats how i got the pattern for the top right), and looking at other tracks now, i should have dithered the track all the way through.

I might have a go at Bellamy Park V3 tonight, if work doesn't tire me out too much :)

I had a go at making the dithering of the track better, but i can't find anything that will make it look more realistic/nicer...... GeneSuomi, this is the last version.. ;)

I'll use these tips to make a better track next time...

Looks nice for a first track. I just have to test it.

Keep it up!

Well yes I actually did like it.
It has the ''one wrong move and your dead'' feeling at the end of the track. :D And I kind of like it! ;)
So 5/5 ;)

Great, are we allowed to use pics in our signatures now?

About the track, very nice for a first one, maybe a bit empty (objects-like) and I don't like the jump.

Thanks guys :D

....and yeah, I sort of wanted more objects in the track, but I couldn't do it without making the track look too cluttered. :?
