Gravel, tarmac, snow. Whatever the surface, you'll find it here.

[rwl] [cir] TopGear Test Track

Post by resir014 »

:gr: TopGear Test Track :gr:

NOTE: For car testing only!

My second track (and my first track that was built from scratch :D)

The idea of making this track come up while I'm trying to build an airfield-based track, then I thought to myself, "Hey, why not build a Top Gear Test Track?" so I agreed.

Again, it was built only using Paint and the regular trackeditor, and the reference of building locations was found from Google Earth (though some buildings on this track are not highly accurate, forgive me for being such a noob :P)

Let me know what you think guys. Your feedbacks are highly appreciated :)

from Wikipedia:
The Top Gear test track is used by the BBC automotive television programme Top Gear. It is located at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey, United Kingdom. The track was designed by Lotus Cars. It is used to test both cars and drivers seen on the programme in three segments of the show - Power Laps, Star in a Reasonably Priced Car and Challenges.

Well, if you want, I can make a racing version of it later.

EDIT: But then I have to change the tag all over again  so it would take a while.

Could be done with more details. For example a fence is around the airport, the grass texture in middle should be on external side of the runways it left-middle, landscape of bottom part is ignored (there is road) and finally lines in middle look messy (the loop created by Wilson, Chicago, Follow-though and ended by Bentley). But in sum not bad. Keep going, Resi. :bg:

Well actually if you look at Google Earth's aerial photo, there are almost no fence/hay bales around the airport

Thanks for the feedback Ivo. I'll try to come up with something this week.

Coming up: by demand from Pietro_GP a full-racing version will be released at the next update, making it a [tpk] soon :bg:

I looked at it before my post. :) I can see there fence and shapes which are likely created by bushes growing on its sides, off course the fence is often cover by trees from view, but then it's quite remarkable from boarder of lands. Airport is 100% fenced around, especially in UK, where almost all private lands are surrounded by boarder fences/walls AFAIK to prevent unwanted trespassing of other. ;)

Even on the show you can see the fence. but not a bad track overall... Just needs a bit of improving...
