[tou] GRM - Chevrolet Cruze Super Touring Car

Post by Haruna »

The Chevrolet Cruze Super Touring Car is GRM's first car in the R4 racing class, consisting of touring cars with under 300 break horsepower. All cars in this class use DOT-legal slicks rather than full racing slicks to allow more cars to fit into the Performance Index required.

As with many modern touring cars, the Chevrolet Cruze is built to extremely strict regulations. The more relaxed restrictions of the R-classes allow a large amount of intake restriction to be removed from the engine, as well as lesser weight ballast. This allow the car to make over 320 horsepower, far more than many 2-liter touring cars today. It is extremely fast in a straight line, but being FWD, this car is extremely unwieldy when transferring from high to low speed cornering. Surprisingly, the car is somewhat easy on tires, thanks to high frontal weight. While it is a highly messy car to drive because of the loss of restriction, the Cruze is splendid on tracks with long straights and open bends.

Specifications:
Engine - atmospheric 2.0 liter straight 4
Power - 336 horsepower
Drag Coefficient - 0.38
Weight - 1000 kilograms
Weight Distribution - 60% / 40% (F/R)
Tire width - 255 mm (F/R)
Tire type - DOT legal racing slicks
Front wheel drive
Class/Performance Index - R4/Evolved/995

Great car as always haruna, i really like the Physics of this car. i also like the way it takes time to get up to speed rather then just boosting away and not being able to control the car

so i say 10/10 for everythink

If the Cruze is supposed to be in 2011-spec it should be a 1.6T instead of an atmospheric 2.0

Aren't Chevrolet running a S2000 spec Cruze in the BTCC right now? In any case, the NA 2.0 is what's there.

I will see about a future version with a 1.6T swap.

The BTCC Cruzes use the NGTC engine but so far I know that team is either a privateer team or a semi-works (Chevrolet UK?) team. The works (RML) team in the WTCC uses the 1.6T following the FIA rules

Sorry to drag up an old thread but just wanted to correct this post. None of the Chevrolet entries in the 2011 BTCC had NGTC engines. They were running under full S2000 regs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Briti ... nd_drivers). Anyone watching an interview with Jason Plato from pretty much any point in the season would have heard him moaning about how quick the turbo cars were against his normally aspirated engined car.
