Update Original GeneRally Cars 2011 - Signup/Release Thread

Post by Lukeno94 »

UOGRC 2011, or Update Original GeneRally Cars 2011, is a community project for the reproduction of new cars based along the lines of the originals. This means that multiple people will recreate a few of the original cars, which they will choose themselves, and they will be to similar dimensions as the originals were made to, and with identical physics.

The deadline for car submission is 23:59 GMT 31st December 2011, and submissions after this point will be invalid.

RULES:
1: No car-maker may have more than 4 cars included in the finalized pack, but they may produce more than this quantity of vehicles for selection.
2: Individual car-makers may make 2 or more versions of each car and enter them into the voting.
3: Dimensions must be within 5% of the original models, and physics must be unaltered from the original cars. Wheel sizes and positions must also be identical. The exception to this is the Sidamob, which should have a version with and without wheels.
4: Once a reasonable amount cars have been made of each kind, I'll set a final deadline for submissions. Then voting will commence on a style similar to ToM, where you vote for your favourite of each type via PM.
5: In the event of a car-maker producing more than 4 cars that gain the most votes in their e, those with the smallest percentage margin of victory will not be included, and the runner-up cars will be added to the pack. This will continue until a car is selected. In the event that no car is available to fill this, it will default back to the original winner, even though he will then have more than 4 cars included. There will not be a reshuffle of another car to compensate.
6: Cars must be a similar style to the originals - so you may not create a truck for the formula entry, for example!
7: Entries to the project must only be posted in the official project car release thread. They will not be considered for the poll if they are uploaded elsewhere without being posted in the correct thread.
8: You may modify existing models of your own to offer in the poll, but they must not be identical to an existing model - you must make some changes, and more than just reassigning colours or flipping polies around, vertex values must change, and to a noticeable amount. You must not modify the original vehicles, unless you are one of the Rabinas.
9: All cars must be painted in player colours, and windows must be in the 184 colour, just as the original cars are. Any cars failing to comply with this will not be modified, but will be ignored until the creator modifies them himself (the creator will be notified, however). Due to the original cars not containing lights, colour choice is free.
10: Cars must be of your own creation, do not modify anyone else's work without permission. This is in line with forum policy. Make sure your car fits any other forum rules. Cars used in previous UOGRC projects are forbidden to be re-entered, without significant modification.
SIGNING UP:
Here, you name the cars you are interested in, and your name will be added to a list in this post. You may register for any number of cars, and may also withdraw your signup if you no longer wish to make that car. However, once you have released a car, you may not withdraw it, but you may make modifications for a second version of that car. To make multiple entries per car type, you do not need to sign up more than once. This is not compulsory, but would be helpful in gauging how much interest there is in each type of car.

ENTRANTS:
General
Formula
Go-Kart
Mini
Truck
McTurbo
Triangle
Yankee
Onewheeler
MonsterTruck
Sidamob
Rallycar
DISCLAIMER:
By entering your car into this project, you agree to allow the re-sharing or usage of unmodified cars without prior contact, as long as the UOGRC readme is included. Any modifications of the cars require the contacting of the individual car makers, and not myself.

I can edit any of these rules if people feel they have better ideas.

Lukeno, they're completely new models, never before released anywhere.

Anyway, here they are.

EDIT 09:32 05/09/2011: I've added a new monster truck model to the pack. Please download v1b instead.

EDIT 05:38 18/09/2011: v1c is the latest version. This time it only contains small changes to the Formula model. Please only download this version.

EDIT 22:42 08/10/2011: Aah!!! Another update, v1d. It makes changes to the Yankee model and fixes the McTurbo's shadow. Download it here.

EDIT 02:37 13/11/2011: Jeez! How many updates is this going to take? v1e just came out, which makes changes to the General model. Download it here.

EDIT 09:09 13/12/2011: It's that time again. v1f was just released. It further adjusts the Yankee model. Download it here.

EDIT 22:34 28/12/2011: I've just posted v1g. It changes the Formula's livery. Download it here.

EDIT 11:44 02/02/2012: The final version of my car pack can be found in this thread.

Maybe because the "no" part of your name isn't underlined or made smaller so it looks less like the intended "Luke No. 94" and rather like "Lukeno 94".

But anyway, great cars guys.

Update Original GeneRally Cars 2011 - Yankee by XYY

Post by XYY »

So here comes my Yankee.
It's little but (IMO) cute car, a bit inspired by Cars like the Ford Mustang or the Pontiac Firebird (1960's models).
Enjoy! :)

Note: Now the full pack is available. You can find it here.

That's a nice, sleek model, XXY. Although I personally think the cab length makes it look more like a saloon than a muscle car.

I actually tried to combine the muscle car feeling with the compact car feeling, so that it can either look like a muscle car or like a short sedan/hatchback...
But thanks for your comment anyway :)

My own Mini is here then. And, no, it's not ripped straight from my OHS Mini, it's had quite a few modifications, even if it looks similar (but shorter).

EDIT: Fixed the shadow, ffs I am a moronic being.

I don't know if you intended for the shadow to be longer than the car body itself, but it makes the car look awkward in game, especially when viewing it sideways.

That screenshot made me skeptical at first as I thought it looked like a mess, but the model is actually very discernible, especially from a top down view, and the colour pattern works well. It made me realise the flaw with my own truck.

Thanks, ACM. I'd not say flaw in your model, we simply focused our minds on bit different aims in the modelling.

BTW from your pack I like most the one-wheeler. :bg:

My Yankee (with a correct shadow from the start this time  ) It's basically a shrunken version of a Dodge Charger.
