Can someone try my car physics? I worked a bit longer than last time on it (before it was like with the GTbyCitroen).
I think they're quite good, but we'll see. I chose some "typical" cars for their class (McLaren MP4-12c (recent rwd supercar), Firebird from the late 60's (muscle car), Veyron (recent awd supercar), Bizzarrini 5300 (gt of the past), Audi TT quattro (recent awd sports car), Redbull RB7 (F1 car), Audi A3 1.6 (compact car).
Please tell me what I could improve or which car(types) you would need to judge if it's good. :)

They are pretty well made, however, the balance on all car types is too low for me. When I drove especially the Red Bull RB7, I was expecting a snappy car that required delicate use of both steering and throttle. I only got oversteer on low-speed corners, and even then I understeered more than I actually oversteered.

The RB7 imho is way too bloody fast! It's worser than the MP4-17D Mebiko made a few years ago. I could barely control it and the steering is way too weak.

I have something faster (according to Mr.J the fastest controllable car he ever drove), too. You wouldn't like to drive it, Alex, believe me :D
Seems that the Red bull is most problematic. So what to do? More grip? More sliding? More balance? I'll try to do if you can tell me what's the problem, or well, @Haruna, how would you as a carmaster solve this issue?

I'd say a 20~35% boost in balance would make the cars feel lighter. In my opinion, cars should only drive smoothly because driver is smooth - not because the car is set-up to be this way, 100% of time.

Imho it's a kind of issue that appeared not because of low skills of setting single values, but rather incorrect assumptions. First defect I noticed is that you want to make all cars nice and funny to drive, sliding on each corner. It's partially good, but then it's almost impossible to make all the physics for various types of cars believable. For example, Red Bull, why does it have so much sliding? It's F1 car with amazing amount of downforce and grip so it never slides. Not to mention the fact its air resistance is bigger than in other cars (?).

I'd rather say the problem is caused by too much power. The car reaches big speed very quickly and you can't brake to safe speed before the corner, so it slides every time. I decreased power to 1000, sliding to 0,1 and increased balance to 0,7 and it feels much more like F1 car. Not a speed makes F1 cars so fast, but rather grip and downforce. There is many cars more powerful than RB7, but they're not faster at a racing circuit.

From other cars only the Audis physics is quite realistic (especially A3; TT lacks too much grip), maybe McLaren and Bugatti are nice, but in overall I find these cars quite similar to basic GR cars, and some of these feels like supercharged Formula. To make it more realistic and capable of racing on bigger and more narrow tracks they need to be lighter, with less power, more downforce. I'd not change the balance, it's even too big for me now, but it works very well.

Just to share my opinion, no offence :shhh:.

I won't be offended by constructive critism :D

But if I decrease power and weight, I have your physics model... :D
I'll surely see what I can do. I know I won't be able to make it perfect for everyone (specially the balance :D )
About drifting: I think that RWDs need at least the possibility to drift, but any of the cars drifts too much. Perfect for drift tracks :goal:
Expect the next pack in about a week :D

What i see is the Veyron is good but the problem is if you were basing it off of real life stats the handling is too good for the veyron but at the same time the McLaren MP4 has less handling then its real life counterparts but overall i think the cars are good :D 5/5

The Veyron actually handles pretty well in real life (although I cannot compare these to XYY's cars, as I haven't tested them yet)

hiho, i'm new here on the forum but i kinda of know a bit (fair bit) of modeling and i decided to start a carpack-ish

It's called Proto atm ( i may change its name, if im capable of giving it a better one ''- ) its a buggy thinggy (dont know exactly it name in english), the pack will have tree versions of it: dirt one(higher supencion and a front grille thing), street one(with an aerodinamic wing on front and lower supencion) and a hybrid one (dirt and street, as seen in the pic), but if i ran out of polys i'll be in trouble, probably

hope ya like it ^^

PS: in the next update i will try to sketch it so you can image how it would look in reality =D

update in my proto project

i got a problem, i need just one more vertex and i can't find whare to adjust to get it (i pretty sure i still have many edges with two diferent vertexes in the same place, i just can't find all of them =/)
just one more vertex....
just one more vertex....
if someone want to help me, i'm ataching the ".car" zip file too

help me please!

@Luke: For the Lacia I suggest you to delete one vertex at the front grille in the bottom and make a grey triangle with one vertex in the bottom and two in the top of the grille (if you have polies left ;) ) And for the escorts, it seems at the first car that you made a triangle-shaped winker with the other vertex aligned at the top of the lights. It should rather be moved to the bottom of the light. (hopefully you understand what I'm trying to say :D )

And here comes my next physics test pack! Please write lots of comments. It's a lot better than my previous I think ;)

The Mark III Escort has the indicator light placed there as the Fiesta always did have, I don't know how easily I can flip that to have the light lower down. As for the Delta, I think I know what you mean, but I'm not sure I 100% agree with that suggestion. xD

I've been working on a Z-Type from Grand Theft Auto 2, and the model is *just now* finished. I think I started this morning sometime...Anyway, tell me what you think but do not suggest any radical changes, as I am scraping the vertex limit and have only a few faces to spare. Didn't even have six vertexes for headlights (triangles OFC).

And no, I haven't messed about with performance, and I haven't test-driven it yet. Should be fun when it's done.

EDIT: And a reference picture: Image

Rear fenders are longer - about 1/4 of length, front are shorter - 1/2 of length, front windscreen is closely in front half of car and I actually think, that the rear windscreen is in about beginning of rear fenders, not till rear.

Yeah we really need more cars from the GTA series so we can race them on Maciej1's GTA and GTA London tracks.

I finally got some initial performance stats set for the car, and I think it might be ready for a pre-pre-release release. Also, I changed the model a little bit. Tell me what you think!

P.S. It handles well, but is a bit top-heavy. Just as I intended. Perhaps I will make two releases, one a little closer to the GTA2 performance (non-top-heavy) and one a bit more realistic.

EDIT: Uploaded "Z-Type-2.zip", just the Z-Type I uploaded earlier with both user colors instead of just one.

EDIT 2: Uploaded "Z-Type-Both_Versions", containing both Z-types but scaled up a little bit (because they were too small :sweatdrop: ).

Taking suggestions on performance!

I think the Red Bull car needs tighter steering, personally, if not more responsive steering.

This picture is deliberately ambiguous, but the track (not Zanagos for a change!) may or may not be featured in a planned compo I have... :shhh: It also shows off my latest cars.

I'd like some feedback on the Z-Type, so that I may fine-tune it.
