Strava's OLD car tools

Post by Strava »

You can get my OLD OLD car making tools here:

GenerallyEditor (car editor)

The only prog you will probably want out of this is "GenerallyEditor.exe"

This is a very early version of a GUI car editor written by Stephen D
It allows you to enter values with no restrictions.

There are 3 additional progs in this .zip:

Additional GeneRally Car Tools

One to move a car up or down.
One to move a car forward or backward.
And one to copy performance values from one car file to another.

*note*
If you would like to try writing some progs yourself
open "CARFMT2.BAS" with a text editor.

It has the offsets and data types of everything that is in a .car file.

If you can decipher this, you are well on your way to being a true programmer.
If it looks like total gibberish, you should probly leave the coding to computer geeks like me :ugeek:

Has anyone figured out how to get the "car transforming" (GeneRally Car Tools.zip) programs working on Windows 7 64-bit?
It's failing to start up, not any matter if the program is in 'Program Files (x86)' folder or in other folders...

I'd hate to update the SDR RD-01 to new physics without the tools working... 32 identical cars... that's a nightmare...

The link for the car editor is dead I think, I opened it and there is a page with "GenerallyEditor" in big letters but there's nothing else besides the website banners. :(

All links (apart from fuel chart) seems to be dead. You can download the first two things from the GeneRally Archives / palettes / Creating palettes...

For the third thing send me an email to longbow :misch: volja :taped: net so I can reply with the file. I'm sure I have it somewhere :P

Generally Car Editor missing ?

Post by Kikwik »

Hello everyone !

I have a problem with Generally Car Editor, it seems the link to it, Strava's link don't work. The download is an htm file insteed of a rar file. Can someone can help me reupload this link or tell me I'm stupid and try again ?

I also try Car Manager, but I want to remove some cars from a package, so I think it's not that program I must use...

You can use Juan's car editor at http://generally.com.ar/
If you've got Windows 7 and the model window won't pop up use win+up keys combination.

BTW Juan's tools work very well on XP, if you have there all needed files (downloaded from his site).

But mainly about Strava's older car editor:

Read its readme and you'll see, that you cannot upload it, at least not here, where we respect set licence conditions. ;)

Yes I know it works well on Windows XP, I had a problem on downloading only.

Oh, ok, I didn't see it, I'm lucky that I just post a question ... :sweatdrop:

Thanks ! I haven't any problem anymore ! (And excuse me if my english sucks, I'm french ! :) )

Here you go gents. :)

Haven't got a 32-bit system so can't tell if they're working or not. IIRC some .dll's were required too.

Unfortunately, the conditions set by Strava forbid redistributing these files in public. Therefore, I had no choice but to delete the zip.

What were the conditions? Only redistribute the original .zip?
