Large trees and other things with Snakeditor

Post by Glen »

First I discovered how to make large trees with poles as the base, but the poles were useless because they were done with the trees beings themselves.

Normal trees are in first ground, the larges are in the background :

Then I started to try what could be done with other objects. Here à list of them :

- Cactus hedge
- wooden fence, made with poles
- tire circles (smal, medium, big)
- Boat fountain
- lined up house entrance
- round large wooden pole
- fence?, lined up lights
- black/red light, round of traffic signs
- round concrete post
- red/wight soft wall, lined up road cones
- big round wood thing, round of fences

I hope this will give some ideas for other wonderful tracks!

Several of these options are pretty easy with default TE and because of that are commonly used (like cactus hedge). :shhh:

That wasn't my point - it's perfectly OK to do a tutorial or a guide about something not 100% original or new, when it can be confusing or misleading on first view for somebody (I remember e.g. Wouter once confused by the cactus hedge on a stunt track). I just meant you can comfortably do several those things not just in SD. ;)

I'm always trying to make my leaf trees like that but no matter how many I rotate around in itself they never become like this. Maybe I should place them a little bit further from the previous one? Agh, I'll try! Anyway this a good post to show some "never-used-SnakeEditor" guys what wonders can be made with it.

U need to set the distance to 1 or 2 and rotation to 360 ;P

It's no problem, Garbre, as you mention, pines and firs work well (become more dense) even perfectly overlapping each other, but with leaf tree not, so you're right - just move one to up-down-left-right by 1px or bigger radius (to form a cross or little circle) - depends how wide trunk you wish/like. That's all the trick of is leaf tree, IMHO used for years, no miracle introduced by SD. One this tree is question of 10 secs in TE, it doesn't worth to load SD just for this. :)

@reneeabbott
Please, don't post in threads, where last reply was 30 or more days ago. This clutters the forum and confuses others. :)

And welcome to the forum!
