[rwl] [ovl] Daytona by Black Rebel & Andrea Tibiletti
Hello everyone!
As a big fan of the 24h race, motorsports season opener, I always missed a version with a good driveable road layout despite very good versions have been released in the past, but I thought I could maybe give it a try, so I asked Andrea Tibiletti if he wanted to join me in the project. After all he is the Generally community Oval specialist!
Andrea provided me with the oval layout, banking & pit lane included, amazing as usual, you will notice his traditional signature with the circuit name in the oval wall . Then I started with the infield artwork. But after a while, and being on holidays with some spare time I thought I could keep on going and I started also with the grandstands. Despite that, Andrea helped with a lot of painted 2D objects (trucks, tents, some campers, etc).
You will find a lot of detail in the recreation. I am specially proud of the grandstands, as it is the first time I attempt something like that, a combination of 2D art & 3D objects. But you will also find a lot of detail overall with all the important Daytona buildings, starting per example with the Daytona 500 Champions Club, the fair wheel, etc. Of course, re adapted as the space in the infield has been very limited.
The two different layouts try to represent the real athmosphere as good as possible:
24 Hours of Daytona layout, where usually the grandstands are kind of empty, but there use to be a big athmosphere in the camping areas, with a lot of BBQ´s going on. Oval layout, specially in Nascar is always a succes for the circuit, and it is always full to the flags, camping, parkings and grandtsands. And then, a special edition, just for private training sesions, when it is more silent near the Daytona Airport. Find it all attached in the next ZIP: Enjoy & drop your comments please!

David tells so many lies.
I built only some things, so the merit of the perfection of this track is 99% of Mr. Black Rebel!
Great job for a lot of fun.
Best regards!

Dear David do you remember Grascar, the Ski World Cup, le mans or the americas cup ... with Raska, Longbow, Robylu, Alex, Gabor Kozma, sgoowin, you and many others ... the forum was amazing. Post at all hours. We were discussing tracks and cars for days just to improve a curve or a bumper! It's been a long time in this situation. I have always followed the forum but I find it very poor in comments and enthusiasm.Black Rebel wrote:Not much action lately. It is a bit sad to feel the forums like this...
I did not understand if there are still monthly ToM prizes and annual ones.
I do not know. I liked it earlier.
I speak bad English but I hope you understand what I wrote
Regards, Andrea

Thanks guys, really appreciated!Mad Dan wrote:Guys you did fantastic job obviously I love the land map art .
Of course I know what you mean Andrea. I don´t know if it is a generational thing or what happens here. I think the GR2 "issue" didn´t helped either, as many people was really looking forward to it but it didn´t succed on the Kickstarter, and it maybe was a key point as a renewal for the forums and the game. Hopefully one day it happens.Andrea Tibiletti wrote:Dear David do you remember Grascar, the Ski World Cup, le mans or the americas cup ... with Raska, Longbow, Robylu, Alex, Gabor Kozma, sgoowin, you and many others ... the forum was amazing. But I really don´t know. Many people keeps on visiting the forums but nobody drops a comment despite it takes less than a minute. You don´t even see even the usual guys posting wich is a bit sad.
