[stc] Garej Dion

Post by Buka »

:newtrk:
Look who's talking making tracks now! Yeah, this day finally (for me) has come. I proudly present you brand new and brand first track of mine (I don't count JEs). After 5 years of my being here I finally made my contribution to the game :rainbow:

Garej Dion is slightly based on oooold track Dijon Gare by JotB (mainly in name and in some turns, you may download it here). In fact I always wanted to make a remake of this track, and yesterday in the morning I decided to start. I also wanted to try some trackmakers tips for future JEAs. You can find in Garej Dion Ivo's, Aleksinir's and Markus Moeller's influence. In fact, the most difficult part for me was putting objects and you will see that the track is a bit empty, I know it, but I spent on it 2 days, my eyes hurts and tomorrow I will need to go to work so I won't have time at all. I decided to post it as is. I really don't know what else put there. In future tracks (now I know they will come) I will improve myself as trackmaker in putting objects.

So, Garej Dion is a small track on roads of some French sity, located between city park (in top left) and urban skyscrapers, it has fast section (which is in the fact the biggest part of the course), 180-degrees turn (with palm tree  ) specially built for this track and slow part right behind the park (which uses entry part of this park).

I hope you will like it (it's definitely not the worst track AFAIR :hide: )

Comment, comment, comment!

P.S. The track is dedicated to Pava who didn't believe that I ever make a track. Do you see this, Doubting Thomas?!

EDIT. Download v1.1 here

Whoa, I was very surprised (positively) to see a track from you! :eyes:

And it's very good track! I like the layout, it's fun to drive. It looks good too, specially I like the park. The empty areas aren't that bad. For the empty grass slots, next to the palm tree and in bottom, I would've suggested just some bushes. To that small tarmac area in bottom left maybe some booths. Other than that I don't have any problems with emptiness :cool2:

Some improvements to the track:
- For the 90-ish degree turns (1st, 6th, 7th) I would've preferred this kind of solution
- The POV is horrible, I never liked high view angles. There's too much sky visible too. Try this POV: rotation -3, Zoom 89, view angle 57 (and make the office blocks on left lower). Much better IMO.
- Add some "border" to the dithering.
- Fill those empty areas like I suggested or somehow else.

With these improvements I think it could be a good candinate for my ToM vote :bg: ... and also if it had faster AI line, now it's quite slow. But you'll probably come better by practise with it. You've forgot the red piece of the AI line behind starting positions. Btw I love the pit lane :yummy:

Great work, I'll look forward to your next tracks! Is this really the first track ever you've made? :faint:

Thank you maxi, oleksa ( :hattip: your first post here) and RapBR123.

Yeah, they looks much better in this way. Will remake.

That's my weak point. Never understood, how this works. So I just took the first settings which showed the whole map. BTW, won't office block too much view with this settings?

I don't understand, sorry. :shy:

It was faster, but AIs touched tyres in turns, so I made AI line wider.

Ok, tomorrow I will continue. I want to have your ToM vote. :D

No, at least not badly, if you make the ones on left lower with hmap. The ones on right aren't a problem.

Very good job, Buka. Two tips from me: keep one style (in this case of placing hay bales). Everywhere you use separate pieces, but in 1st curve is full line? Strange step out of concept. And then the cobblestone texture in the middle could differ from pit texture and from the piece on left. it would decrease your ''empty'' feeling too. ;) Now it's really good (the kerbs are like by an old dog  ), I cannot wait, if the update will come. :yummy:

BTW you're wizard. In two days I create nothing.

I just felt i had to post on this historic moment :flip:

Very nice track indeed, it's just a huge shame it was not a fullscreen track, as it just spoils it slightly having the sky and wall border

..But now we know you can make tracks, we expect to see more from you :hide: :heyea:

First of all i want to say that the track is really good and that the layout is very fun IMO. :bg:
But i think you should do an update in which you change the tracks POV and the other things mentioned by aleksi because this track has a very high potential to become not just a good track but a great track.

Keep up the really good work :bg: Is it perhaps Moore Belt inspired? :D
