This is the main reason why I've stopped playing GR on my computer...

Re: And the resolution problem...
I've never had that problem, can't you change it with the GR Options editor if you can't in-game?
Re: And the resolution problem...
If you have laptop and vista, you have nothing to do about it. My friend has same problem.
BUT, If you have a big screen with a normal computer, you have a problem.

Re: And the resolution problem...
i think it have nothing to do with vista, i run vista and i can play generally in the higest resolution, i'll think it's more becourse of the screen size, and why i think that?? well.. one of my friends runs windows 7 with an 32' screen, and he cannot change a higer resolution than the lowest...

I don'T know if it's the right thread, but as I have my 16:10 screen back, I'd like to play GR in 4:3. How to do that?
My Hardware:
Intel Core 2 Duo
NVidia GeForce 9800 GT
2 GB RAM

You simply need to check out your graphic display option to see if you have an option to switch between "full screen (no border)" option and the "maintain the aspect ration"XYY wrote:I don'T know if it's the right thread, but as I have my 16:10 screen back, I'd like to play GR in 4:3. Selecting the latest option will allow you to play GR in the correct (4:3) resolution. Obviously you ll see black borders on the left and right side of the screen while playing GR.
This works quite fine on my wife s notebook
Re: And the resolution problem...
I never had the problem with Vista... but I do now with Windows 7. For those that don't, the problem is that the resolution cannot be changed from 640x480 while ingame. Changing the display memory in gr.ini has not helped...

Yeah, yeah I forgot screen resolution and graphic card things...
Re: And the resolution problem...
Now that I think of it, from what I've seen, it may be more of a graphics card problem then an OS problem. It always worked fine on my old computer with its #(*&$@(&! integrated graphics, and now on this new one with a 1GB super-mega-graphics accelerator, I'm having the problem... maybe it's just that people with XP and lower don't usually have very good graphics cards...

Re: And the resolution problem...
It would be really cool, if you, guys with this problem, would specify you graphic card. Maybe it's problem with one of major developer. Or it may be related to a particular display setting (in software of the card or even in win settings).

Re: And the resolution problem...
I have an ATi 5770, with 1GB of RAM (as I said before). Isn't the problem supposedly related to GR detecting the amount of video memory?
(Maybe people without the problem can post as well, so we have something to compare to... My laptop without the problem has the Intel X4500 integrated "graphics".)

Re: And the resolution problem...
Finally a clever idea.
I have all just 128MB and 256MB cards and I didn't noticed the problem.

Re: And the resolution problem...
This may or may not shoot that idea to hell, but although my 8600 GTS has 256 MB dedicated, it also uses 768 MB of the system memory, giving me 1 GB.

Re: And the resolution problem...
Maybe GR ignores dedicated memory, which helps you to be OK.

Re: And the resolution problem...
Shouldn't do, I set the vidmemory to 1024 in the gr.ini if I remember correctly. Hmm... xD
Re: And the resolution problem...
u still don't think that it could be ur screensize's fault??
Re: And the resolution problem...
Setting the vidmemory to 1024 didn't do anything. Besides, that value is in KB, so that would be a 1 MB memory card... >_>
razz, my screen could probably fit 4 versions of 640x480 GR at the same time... I don't think anyone has a screen that can't go above that resolution! At least I hope not...

It would be the style of Mr Weeds....bduddy wrote:I don't think anyone has a screen that can't go above that resolution! At least I hope not...
Re: And the resolution problem...
Even the old 1995-spec HP 14" CRT I scrapped could go to 800x600 without complaining (1024x768 was theoretically possible, but with a pathetic refresh rate of below 50! and one I couldn't set anywhere. )bduddy wrote:Setting the vidmemory to 1024 didn't do anything.
