I've noticed this strange thing today in the morning. After quitting GR my Windows start working much slower and Task Manager show that generally.exe is still in operation.
I use XP SP3.
Bug? Virus? Old Windows?
And there can be as much generally.exe as I load and quit GeneRally.GR.exe doesn't stop after quitting GeneRally
Re: GR.exe doesn't stop after quitting GeneRally
That should be a bug, I noticed the same earlier. You can of course close these generally.exes, they would just consume memory.

This also happens to me from time to time, I'm using W7. But just a thought, you can try writing a batch script with a line that kills Generally.exe process and run the script instead of Generally executable.
Re: GR.exe doesn't stop after quitting GeneRally
So, the problem progresses and causes me a lot of troubles. Now I can't save settings in game. Does someone else have these problems or any ideas what and how to do with them. Fresh new Windows XP SP3 didn't help.
Oh, and I don't know how and what to write bat files.

Re: GR.exe doesn't stop after quitting GeneRally
If it's any help, here is what you do:
1. Create a new .txt file somewhere (I keep it in my GeneRally toolbar for quick access), open it with notepad and paste in these two lines:
2.a Save it as a .bat file ( save as -> all files -> "something.bat" ) or
2.b Save it as normal .txt and rename it to .bat later in explorer (you must have "Hide extensions for known file types" unchecked in "folder options" to do so).
3. Run it if you notice that your computer is lagging or if you run GR and it throws you back to desktop (it happens to me sometimes). It will kill the GR proccess so you don't have to do it manually.

Re: GR.exe doesn't stop after quitting GeneRally
Thank you, egamad. That does help with killing generally proccess.
But another problem and much bigger one is that I can't save settings in game and have to set them manually everytime I enter GeneRally. And Options tool doesn't work too.

Re: GR.exe doesn't stop after quitting GeneRally
Well, check if the Options.set isn't write protected. Especially, if you copied your old GR folder. I got similar problem caused by Win7, where UAC/file ownership caused that my MW2 profile wasn't saved after progress. Even if it's not Vista/7, the writing protection may be set.
Re: GR.exe doesn't stop after quitting GeneRally
Unfortunately it isn't write protected.
