[cir] [rwl] Barbagallo & Eastern Creek UPDATED

Post by Black Rebel »

Hi again guys,

this is a massive update of my old circuits, and maybe they could be considered as new almost, hope you like them. Now barbagallo includes 2 layouts and Eastern Creek includes 3 layouts.

EDITED: Added the new layouts at Eastern Creek and painted the Barbagallo curbs as they are nowadays.

The only issue I ever had with this track is, that both this and previous version is by my feelings to be way too wide for Barbagallo. :-D

But good job, you're a true artist, sir. :hattip:

Yes, the first part is finished: the tower has been torn down. In the second part, this change is intended.

I like this track, it's simple to drive, but not boring at all.

I just noticed your Barbagallo's kerbs are still yellow and black/blue, but they're white and blue since probably 2008. ;) And Eastern Creek's shourt course just got a little upgrade, but maybe you can change both things when the major upgrades will be done ;)

Yeah I noticed that last week, maybe I could update the curb colours. About Eastern Creek short version, what changes have they done?

They've basically reworked the area and put some tarmac around it, but it's not a big change, at least not for a Generally version of the track, especially as the shape of that track was a bit wrong before it's almost no difference ;)

Well, I always try to be as accurate as possible so I will update it during next week. And it is not a big effort to keep it updated. Thanks for the pics.

Why on earth did they add that series of corners to Eastern Creek?

Otherwise great job as ever BR, always been inspired by your tracks!

:iagree: Totally unnecessary IMO.

Nevertheless, great job you've done with Eastern Creek, David! :bg:

Good job, although I guess you're a perfectionist, so you may as well color the kerbs blue white, remove the wall inside the first corner seperating the track from the pitroad (at least 2009 and later it's no longer visible, has there ever been a wall?), furthermore the path in the very left is a bit wrong (but with the new layout you won't be really able to change a lot about it), then the new section isn't as wide as the old in your track (same problem here), the short layout should also have walls and at this track variation are some random sunktyres deleted. Additionally, with so many persons around the track you may think about more parked cars, and the tunnel in the road which runs in bottom right edge of the track looks a bit wrong perspective-wise. And in your top part of the track theres only plain landscape while on the real thing there is a huge parking lot.
As youcan see, I'm really getting nitpicky here and most of the things don't change the driving experience so much. Your recreation is a really respectable effort and I'm criticising at high level :D . But one thing clutters me a lot: The sunktyres are too far away from the inside of the corners. It's all about personal preferences, so this is maybe not a problem for others, but for me it certainly is.

You're forgetting, that these are just updates to keep it visually still on satisfying level (up to date by objects etc) and occasional catching later development, but nothing more (certainly not examining every each sunk tyre, wall, path or tree). :shhh:
I'd personally rather like to see Black Rebel building some brand new tracks (like from rwl requests) than updating his old pieces out of couple of his most favourites). :yummy:

If he makes the new layout, he should also make the new surroundings :!: ;)
But yeah, I'd also like to see David making some fresh tracks :yummy:

XYY!!! LOL Seriously, the problem guys is that finding up to date information about the circuit is not an easy task. What use to help me more are sky shots from a plane or an chooper, or checking the track at google maps with satellite views, but it is old satellite pic what it shows. Anyway, I will read your post again tomorrow with all the corrections you post and will take a look...

If in the meantime you could help me findding some more info, that would be cool.

I have got super-up-to-date aerials from both circuits - just visit NearMap and type in what you need into the search. It also shows Oran Park Barbagallo with the torn down tower and start of the upgrades (pedestrian bridge over s-f-straight, new pitlane). I discovered this great page while searching for info on an old raceway :D Sadly only for australian aerials as it seems but it's still great help :bsmile:
