Rossi looked a bit shocked riding back, but Edwards was clearly totally stricken in the video, I'm fairly sure he was in tears at the point when he's just stood next to his bike, bent over.

@ Luke: Edwards was bent, because had an arm thrown off the shoulder joint. He was trying to stay on his feet with the pain in that first seconds.

And I'm not surprised by that Rossi's feeling, he's good guy and IMHO his bike hit the head while Edward's was hitting the corpse, it must be terrible for both of them. :hang:

I wasn't aware of Edwards' injury, but I'm fairly sure that he knew what had happened and that that was a factor.

Of course he was aware of smashing a guy by his bike, but I can guarantee you, that you couldn't simply stand up to straight, if your left arm would just hang half-randomly in the air. Look again, you'll see a man in pain (right half of him would like to straight more - and actually is more than left - but he cannot be more straight, because the left too much hurts, when he tries). Anyway, it doesn't change anything on fact that he now surely regrets this day ever happened. :worried:

What an awful week this has been, two such high profile names, and two motorsport competitors that i have been big fans of.

Marco Simoncelli will be sorely missed, as will his 'underdog' status in modern MotoGP...

Such sad news :(

I know maybe it's too late, but RIP to Dan Whedon and Marco Simoncelli... They are the names that their respective motorsport series will remember.

Also, the interesting note is, one of Hot Wheels Battle Force 5 characters is Dan Whedon himself.
Y'all, I just woke up... what did I miss?

That wreck was f!cking ridiculous, shows what happens when safety standards get too lax.
Why the hell were the other racers driving at full tilt into the accident scene? I'm surprised no further injuries or deaths happened. Terrible.

R.I.P. Guido Falaschi.

The organisators of this series should think to improve the safety of the tracks and of the cars because the Turismo Carretera is not as safe as other touring car/stock car series in Europe/America, e.g. NASCAR. And the T-Bone of this accident is also horrible, compared to Gustavo Sondermann's fatal accident. :sorry:

Argentina's economy isn't exactly rich - it is unfortunately noticeable in the safety standards.

To renovate the series with an ACTC equivalent of a NASCAR Car of Tomorrow or even just the Brazilian Stock Car championships would put most of the teams out of business, plus the money required to resign these tracks is not exactly something that can be pulled out of thin air.

Stepping on your brakes is no option; its either plowing into someone or get plowed into by others. At least no co-driver is injured, good they banned that :)

Jason Richards has lost his battle with cancer :(

Hannu, who art in Finland, Räbinä be thy name. Sim racers come, races are won, at Agari, as at Xupong. Give us this day our version 1.06, and forgive us all our impatience, as we race those who challenge against us. Lead us not into boredom, but deliver us from work. For thine is the GeneRally, and the AI, and the race cars. Amen!

Dakar Rally is infamous for being dangerous, it's sad but I can't say I'm very shocked.

Unfortunately I've got to dig up this thread again. In just some minutes, 17 years old Oscar McIntyre had a collision on Supersport qualifier race at Philip Island, and passed away. Rest in peace, Oscar!
