[rwl] [ovl] Daytona

Post by Bouncebackability »

Hi all!

Here is my latest Oval creation, Daytona.

There are 3 layouts included, the Oval, and two road courses.

As you can see, I made a bit of a change for this one, I decided to draw the stands instead of use the object. I wasn't happy with the way that they looked and so after making two of the LMap buildings, i chose to draw the stands as well, hopefully you will find them ok, its certainly the best lmap drawing I've done... :sweatdrop:

Comments welcome, and enjoy!

At least one of, if not the best Daytona i've seen. I'll drive it soon! Thanks for the good work!

I noticed that the AI is slightly grazing the barrier at the start/finish line, and some blood came out of it. :o It's not bad, although it's also not the best Daytona track, but I find it ok, actually. ;)

It's a typical collision-detection glitch with the people in GR - bigger cars have an even bigger issue (relative to their size)

I wanted to post a joke about your safety standards, BBA, but then I think it wouldn't come out really well... :cool2:

Out of that, this is really a fine work from you, great job you've done with Daytona. :bg:

I don't think he's a device used for cooking food...

But it does look very good indeed.

That's really lovely Daytona speedway. And finally drivable and funny road layouts too (I somehow never liked much those of MdP's version).

One detail - I'd skip the yellow middle line of support roads in the infield, it's bit ugly and just points out, that they are disproportional by width (e.g. to lmap cars). I know, it's there in real, but this is not the thing, which makes Daytona to be Daytona. :)

BTW why the lmap grandstands? Just a challenge of own skills?

Good work, BBA! :bg:

Thanks Ivo, yeah you are right about the yellow lines, I knew I should have removed them. As for doing Lmap stands, party for the challenge yes. Initially it was grand stands, but I chose to draw the red fronted structure on the backstraight, as I felt I couldnt do it right with objects. Then I couldnt fit the booths in very well to make the black building by the pitlane, and finally I was unhappy with the stands, and the HMap under them to make them so large, especially when combined with the gates required to make the building behind them. So I figured it was going to produce a better result to draw them.

:wow: The monumental arch in the left bottom corner is just impressive! Good layouts too.
But why does the AI brake in the straight ???
GeneRally looks like any racing game. It just got a smaller price and smaller cars
