The armcos next to the track was the original idea for this. But I've added some run off areas.

I'm starting a crazy project :)

Edit: ok, I need help, some 45° walls are like stairs, the other one not.

Try to find out what it is :)

I am starting on a new project, I am going to attempt to bring some tracks from the open-source game TORCS, starting with Ruudskogen. I will be trying to replicate the scenery on these tracks, so that means a lot of the scenic stuff will be sparse (like pretty much all of my tracks).
April 2012 rookie of the month, winner CoM Nov/Dec 2013 (NASCAR CWTS 2013), Jan/Feb 2014 (NASCAR Sprint Cup 2014) and Sep/Oct 2014 (TUDOR USC GT Lemans), Winner 2013 Competition Organizer Rabina Award

Ruudskogen, I remember this one :yummy: See one of my very early WIP's (2009 or sth) :D

Edit: btw, once I tried to figure out all the layouts of Torcs tracks, and this is what I got:
Street 1: Adelaide
Wheel 2: Suzuka
Dirt 3: Catalina Park
Brondehatch: Brands Hatch
Corkscrew: Laguna Seca
Forza: Monza

Seems like a really fun project! :bg:

I think the base water level for MASA's boats is 15 so I'd say that's the way to go.

Ms's boats use a water level of 15. Strava's old boats use a water level of 40. The water level should be set to which boats you want to run on your track.

@ Sartalas. It looks really weird, the straight before Aqua Minerale is way way too long whereas other straights look too short, like after Tosa and the start straight. Also turns 1, 2 and 3 are all angled oddly. Sorry to be so critical, but I would really consider redrawing it...

@ Sartalas: I was wondering about the pit-entering, but after a little time of research I saw that it has to be so ;) It looks very cool, I hope You make such a good job as You do normally ;)
@ Areen: The layout seems to be perfect. I'm happy to see a version of Losail ;) Keep going on!!

BBA is perfectly right about the Imola IMHO.

Areen, if you're sure it's going to be better than AndHu's version, continue, please. :yummy:

Glen, any news about the water track WIP? :trampo:

You should try to get more of a street circuit feeling by adding some road markings (like dashed middle line, border line, also sidewalk). I suggest you to export the landmap and edit it with external programs such as Paint or GIMP, as you can improve the tracks a lot with these tools (and the first steps aren't so hard either).
Also, you should maybe put some grass under the trees. I think it's quite unlikely that they grow in the tarmac... ;) And you could try to make the walls a bit smoother, some of them even seem to have little gaps... :shhh: But keep the work up, if you stop trying you can't improve :bg:

Here's a new project I started about a week ago and it's been sitting still for a while now.

Could someone share some insight on how to make clean looking kerbs pixel by pixel in paint, or I do have GIMP too if that helps. I'm looking to make really clean kerbs and Snakeditor just doesn't achieve that no matter how much I fiddle around with it. Then again if I do kerbs by hand I can't really maintain the kerb width and it still looks messy. I've seen people do kerbs that have consistant squares that still follow the angle of the turn.

I'm trying to learn how to make more stuff by hand and maybe I'll also learn to make layouts with less fixed angles, so far all my attempts have ended up with tracks that are way too curvy and complex.

Snakeditor refuses even to make smooth lines, i always correct them on paint, you can guide yourself by the white line, just draw pixel per pixel in parallel to it, i hope this was helpful :S

I would replace road cones in top with mouvable. You must be patient too make superb kerbs and trying will make you learn :bg: .

Here is an ancient video tutorial by Darjo for making kerbs with photoshop, I think it is possible to do them similarly with GIMP.

Thanks for the tips on kerbs, sadly I had to rely on SD after all, since I just couldn't achieve the quality I wanted to, maybe later I'll give it another go.

I think I'm gonna give the track some rest since I'm pretty much out of ideas and it's starting to feel and look a bit forced. If you have any ideas I'd be glad to hear them.
