Car 4: 2010 Toyota Midget Silver Crown. This Midget-class car is fitted with a 2.7 litre in-line 6 engine that produces 350 hp. It has a Performance Index value of 535.
Car 5: 2012 Nissan DeltaWing. A much-publicized experimental car, fitted with a 300 hp, 1.6 litre in-line 4 engine. It has a Performance Index value of 674.
Car 6: 2003 Pontiac FWD Drag Racing Sunfire. This was one of the top-class FWD drag cars, producing 1000 hp from its turbocharged 2.2 litre in-line 4. It has a Performance Index value of 744.
Car 7: 2005 Ascari KZ1-R. Used in GT3 racing, this was a racing version of the KZ1, with its 4.9 litre BMW M5 V8 engine uprated to 520 hp. It has a Performance Index value of 671.
Car 8: 1999 Toyota Momo Corse Apex MR2 GT. One of the racing specials on the early Gran Turismo games, it has a 374 hp turbocharged 2 litre in-line 4. It has a Performance Index value of 621.
Car 9: 2012 BMW M3 DTM (E92). BMW's return to DTM in 2012 was based around this car, with the standard 480 hp, 4 litre V8 used in DTM cars. It has a Performance Index value of 766.
Car 10: 2008 Ligier JS49. An entry-level prototype car, with a 2 litre Honda in-line 4 producing 240 hp - very much a rival for the smaller Radicals. It has a Performance Index value of 599.
Car 11: 2010 Dallara GP3/10. The original GP3 car, which was fitted with a 280 hp turbocharged 2 litre in-line 4. It has a Performance Index value of 742.
Car 12: 2012 Star Formula Mazda. Yet another beginner's formula, this time using the 260 hp rotary engine from a Mazda RX-8. It has a Performance Index value of 608.
Car 13: 2012 Peugeot RCZ Cup Car. Built for its own one-make series, the RCZ's standard 1.6 litre turbo in-line 4 has been tweaked to produce 249 hp. It has a Performance Index value of 503.
Car 14: 2011 Volkswagen Golf24 (Typ 5K). Built for the Nurburgring 24 Hours, it uses the TT-RS' 2.5 litre in-line 4, producing 434 hp. It has a Performance Index value of 586.
Car 15: 2008 Volkswagen Jetta TSI Racer (Typ 1K). Built for the Volkswagen Cup, it uses a tuned version of the road car's 1.4 litre turbosupercharged in-line 4, producing 230 hp. It has a Performance Index value of 436.
Car 16: 2001 Welter Racing WR LMP-01 Peugeot. A LMP675 racer from the 2001 24 Hours of Le Mans, it used a 450 hp engine based on a 2 litre, turbocharged Peugeot in-line 4. It has a Performance Index value of 699.
Car 17: 2008 Audi A4 DTM R14 Audi Sport Team ABT (B7). The Audi Sport Team ABT entry in the 2008 DTM, it used a 460 hp, 4 litre V8, just like every other 2008-spec DTM car. It has a Performance Index value of 721.
Car 18: 1985 Subaru Leone 1800 Sedan RX Turbo Rally Car. The predecessor to the Legacy Group A car, it produced 190 hp from its 1.8 litre turbocharged flat-4. It has a Performance Index value of 424.
Car 19: 2003 Hansen Race Cars Civic Si Pro Drag Car Adam Saruwatari. Another drag car (this time RWD), this one produced 1075 hp from a turbocharged 3.2 litre V6. It has a Performance Index value of 712.
Car 20: 1999 Ford Puma SRC Kit Car. One of the earliest Super 1600 cars, this rally Puma had a highly specialized 215 hp version of the 1.6 litre in-line 4 found in the road car. It has a Performance Index value of 485.
Car 21: 2002 MG ZR S1600 Rally Car. The first works MG rally car since the awesome Metro 6R4 was a bit more sedate, with a 215 hp 1.6 litre in-line 4. It has a Performance Index value of 484.
Car 22: 2005 Proton Satria GTi R3 Stage 3. One of the older R3-class cars, it had a 185 hp version of the Mitsubishi-designed 1.8 litre in-line 4 found in the road car. It has a Performance Index value of 446.
Car 23: 1994 Proton Wira Group N Rally Car. Basically a rebadged Lancer, the Group N car produced 240 hp from its 2 litre turbocharged in-line 4. It has a Performance Index value of 464.
Car 24: 1986 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 E2 Group B. Arguably the best of the awesome Group B cars, this late evolution produced 450 hp from its 1.8 litre turbocharged in-line 4. It has a Performance Index value of 609.
Car 25: 1999 Toyota Corolla WRC. Toyota's last WRC car proved to be very successful, with its 300 hp, 2 litre turbocharged in-line 4 more than matching the opposition. It has a Performance Index value of 547.
Car 26: 2008 Audi A3 TDI clubsport quattro (8P). Never actually used in races, but it was a concept car, showing off a 221 hp version of the 2 litre TDI in-line 4 engine. It has a Performance Index value of 416.
Car 27: 2010 MINI E Race. Yes, a racing version of the 204 hp electric Mini. It has a Performance Index value of 406.
Car 28: 2008 MINI John Cooper Works Challenge. Used in the one-make Mini Challenge series, the standard 1.6 litre turbocharged in-line 4 has been left stock, with 208 hp being produced. It has a Performance Index value of 450.
Car 29: 2002 Qvick Mini Cooper S3. An absolutely insane car, fitted with the stock 3.2 litre in-line 6 found in a BMW M3 E46, and producing 333 hp. It has a Performance Index value of 528.
Car 30: 1956 Austin-Healey 100/6 Group 2 Rally Car. The 100/6 was never a hugely successful car, but it did give the foundations for the 3000. It has a 2.6 litre in-line 6 that produced 150 hp. It has a Performance Index value of 355.
Car 31: 1959 Austin-Healey 3000 Group 2 Rally Car. The legendary Big Healey had a 2.9 litre in-line 6 that produced a healthy 210 hp. It has a Performance Index value of 377.
Car 32: 1997 Peugeot 106 Maxi Evo1 F2 Kit Car. One of the smaller F2 kit cars, built to compete with the Felicia and Saxo, it produced 238 hp from a highly specialized version of the 1.6 litre in-line 4 found in the 106 GTi. It has a Performance Index value of 465.
Car 33: 1899 Jenatzy La Jamais Contente. Not a true race car, but a land speed record car - producing 68 hp from its electric motors. It has a Performance Index value of 208.
Car 34: 1986 Audi Group S Prototype. Built for the abandoned Group S, it never raced, but had a 300 hp version of the 2.1 litre turbocharged in-line 5 found in the Audi Quattro. It has a Performance Index value of 643.
Car 35: 1998 Mitsubishi GTO LM-Edition. Another Gran Turismo race car, this one had a 3 litre turbocharged V6, producing 613 hp. It has a Performance Index value of 661.
Car 36: 2010 Toyota RK Collection Camry NASCAR Edition. Built as a concept for the 2-door NASCAR Camry, it used a 680 hp version of a 5.9 litre NASCAR V8. It has a Performance Index value of 571.
Car 37: 1963 Pontiac Catalina 421 Super Duty 'Swiss Cheese'. One of the works drag cars from the early 1960s, the 6.9 litre V8 produced 405 hp. It has a Performance Index value of 465.
Car 38: 1989 Peugeot Oxia Concept. A concept car that doubtless was used in preparation for the 905 Group C car, it had a 2.8 litre turbocharged V6, producing 680 hp. It has a Performance Index value of 686.
Car 39: 1983 Honda City Turbo II Cup Car. A little 1.2 litre turbocharged engine delivered 136 hp, and made this a fun entry-level racing car. It has a Performance Index value of 268.
Car 40: 1982 Nissan March Super Silhouette (K10). A little-known silhouette-class car, with a 1.5 litre turbocharged in-line 4 producing 158 hp. It has a Performance Index value of 463.
