How to create a perfect curve?

Post by Bruno Asp »

During my edits of tracks, my biggest difficulty lies in drawing curves. Even so, I prefer to make street tracks and not circuits - where the curves are more noticeable. I wonder which technique you use and what programs (free) editing do you use for editing tracks! Thanks

It's surely a good editor for making tracks. One thing though, you'd really read the readme file, because without doing so it's quitte a challenge to get things worked out. At least that does count for me as I find it quitte difficult to work with it... Still figuring around what's doing what.

I have tried working with the Snake, but I confess that it is a little impractical. What's really good at it is that the curves do very well aligned, but it makes me feel "cast" ... The Snake is not his fault that I'm old quirk LOL. Ivo was in point: for older editions we need other techniques. I will read the tutorial LOL. But I want to learn Snake too! Thanks!

I atm don't know what Jimmy wrote in his tutorial but I could also tell you where to download the LandEditor (it's more old-skool)...

I was wondering how to do that in GIMP. One way is with the path tool, but not very useful when you already have a layout and then want to expand/modify it, because you would have to aim for the exact center of the road to match up the edges. Do you guys know any other way, something like parallel lines or something? Thanks. :hattip:

:2c: but when making a corner in photoshop/gimp ;) perhaps, the outside of the corner is double the track width + the size of the brush inside the corner.

so say your track width is 25 pixels and the inside of the corner you used a 20 pixel brush. to create a matching width on the outside of the corner, you would use a 70 pixel brush (20+25+25)

however, im sure you looking for a more detailed technique than this...

Then there's also a tool called Trackeditor :shhh:  You can make at least perfect enough curves with that.
