Hi, I did a test login, (got the error message & started GR manualy), did a run, but when I got to the screen shown in the pic the "finish race" button was not responding.
Edit: I did a 24Km TT.

Thanks for reporting. I had a similar problem on my attempt. We're looking into it. Strangely enough, this has never occured in previous tests.

Some of you asked about the game settings: You can choose your own settings (race distance, ...). You don't have to use the race settings specified by the tool for this practice session. Also, I have not included computer drivers, because I only have the green car. If you want, you can add some and race against other green cars.

But the Event won't count for GWR, or will it? :D

This is meant to be a quick test for us to check the new login system and for you to get familiar with the car and the size of the tracks. I will talk to Jo.sk about GWR because he decides whether or not this is counted.

This session should not count for the GWR. Some people will drive multiple times in order to make sure everything is working for everyone. Also, drivers are allowed to use different game settings.

And it's a [TT] btw. If any questions arise, I will quote that explanation. :)

The current version of this tool requires an internet connection during the whole session.

The question then is what to do with unstable connections? Maybe we can get unexpected retirements due to "an engine failure" because of it. :D

There are 2 possibilities how to proceed if problems with the tool occur:
- TuomoH's "engine failure" rule
- The driver can send a traditional email with the required files

@Rudy: Whatever it is, it should be mentioned in the rules.

Of course the problem is that some people are likely to have more unstable connections than others and it might mean that they retire the whole season because of it.

Is the new login tool supposed to make things easier and better for everybody, or for some? ;)

So, my login worked perfectly! First test done, I'm happy with my time so far, but I need to practise more time with that new car ;) Good work at all!!

It's already in there. Mails are possible if there are problems with your tool.

So. If i have internet connection only in my smartphone and not in computer, can i do it someway?

Edit: When is the deadline of pre-season testing?

The point is that you need a permanent internet connection on the specific device (Windows computer or notebook) that you use to play GeneRally. Technically, it is possible to use your mobile as a router. If you are contractually allowed to this, is just another question.
But don't worry, there will be other solutions as well. ;)

I need some more practise with the new car, but up to now I have to say that it's cool to drive that new car!

Yes, the settings are free to change similar to a real Formula 1 pre-season test. Nobody knows about the test strategy of the other drivers, therefore the real performance will be revealed in Melbourne.

By the way, I really like the circuit in Jerez.
FRUKIScze wrote:Edit: When is the deadline of pre-season testing?
The test session will be open until the start of the 2012 season, maybe in 1 week. I guess, Rudy will reveal the start date soon.
akouk wrote:Is the new login tool supposed to make things easier and better for everybody, or for some? ;)
The tool is supposed to make things easier for everybody. After removing some minor bugs (e.g. space character in game path) and including some new features (e.g. supporting unstable internet connection), the tool will be ready for the first race.

I got a "Failed to initialize game system" error message of GeneRally itself. Then the tool was blacked out, nothing I could do, and after logging in again of course it didn't find a session :D
