How did everyone fair in their native exams? I got (I think) 5 A*s, 6 As and 2 Bs in my GCSEs, although I can't remember exactly what a Distinction in IT gave me, so the A/A*s may be slightly out.

Well, it's not exactly an exam, but this year I got a 6B in Maths and a 6A in Science.

Are these ABCs something good or bad? And what the hell is GCSE? Does it mean you've finished your school or what?

GCSEs are the nationwide exam system that everyone takes in year 10 and 11. A* is the best, going down to F as the worst pass grade, and U for those that fail. For sixth form (years 12 and 13), we take A levels if we choose to stay on in education.

Heh, so you've done it good, Luke, congrats! :bg:

BTW, I began to study in school with 5 points grading system (5 - the best), continued with 12 points (12 - the best, I've got all 12 for my five final school exams :ugeek: ), than in uni I've got back to 5 points and now AFAIK they change it to some system with letters instead of points. That's how we study in Ukraine. :pillepalle:

I don't even know how the university system grades things here (which is intelligent, since that's where I'll end up hopefully... ), but before GCSEs you get levels with both numbers - level 1 to level 8, and letters, A-C. 8A is the best, 1c would be the lowest, but that would be a year 1 grade, so :D

That's strange Buka :D. We have 1 to 5 with 1 best and 5 worst.

Welp, it would be kinda dumb to list the results I had last year. So I'm studying in University of Applied Sciences with a 5 points grading (So 0-5, 5 being the best). The average from last year was 4,12. The average for the two years I have studied is 3,88.

Probably you spend too much time here instead of studying?

In Germany is 1 best and 5 worst too. ;d In Poland is from 6 (best) to 1 (worst). And exams are at the ending of each school (primary, secondary, middle, high).

Welp, actually I think I'm having one of the highest averages on my class... :D There's just two 2:s pulling the average down so much That's what you get for not being interested at all at the topic. :P

So you got 4. And what's the highest? 5? 6? 8? 10? 88? Very good to evaluate the grade. :P Starting with 1/A as top grade is better IMHO, because the there are no doubts what's best without wasting of time by explaining. :)

Also, in a mock Science test we did this year, I got the highest score out of anyone. I got 112 out of 150 marks, 19 more than my closest counterpart.

I personally like this 0-5 system we are having. It's almost like the movie reviews with the 5 stars. I especially like this system because it has just the equal numbers, not some 4- 4+ 4½ stuff in between, just a clear number. Meanwhile the system we have in our primary school is quite dumb. It's a 4-10 system, where 4 is the worst and equals fail. But in the exams you also have the 8-, 8+, 8½ so theres sooo many different grades there messing it up.

4 - 10? I've never heard of a grade rating so specific and ridiculous. 1 - 10 would be easier to understand. Please tell us why they chose the grades like this if you know the reason.
