Re: Generally Racers Forum banner election
the banner looks great! good work! just a slight shame it isnt the width of the forum...
Re: Generally Racers Forum banner election
Very nice!
Perhaps you could make the flag so that it fades out to the background.

And transcendent background together with it. That I wrote to Rudy right now, if he can make final tuning of the banner.

I read it and I totally agree with you. That was my impression, too. Must have been misunderstood when I purposely did not choose a transparent background. Thought I should not. Well... I'm working on that. Give me 2 days
What about the width? Height will be reduced to about 80 px. Want a panorama view?

Can be just lightly wider than it is now, because the fading-out flag and transparent background will make impression of longer banner. But if you have any idea....

Maybe the flag fading out in a piece of tarmac (perspective view) or kerbs in black & white.
Don't know if that would be "too much".
Just an idea.
At the moment I agree with akouk's idea, it looks a bit like being "cut off".
(But still way better then the text-only, of course.)

Re: Generally Racers Forum banner election
Looks better than before, I almost didn't notice!
Re: Generally Racers Forum banner election
Perhaps it would look nicer, if you'd dublicate the left side of the flag and flip it over to the right as well

I wouldn't. Looks too much "copy and paste" I'll think of another version tomorrow.

Re: Generally Racers Forum banner election
I'm sure it would look better if the front of the cars were pointed to the right, just like you made the first ones.
It's a kind of psychological thing, objects pointed to the right seem to accelerate, or going fast.
Objects pointed to the left seem to brake, or going slow.
(I don't know if it would be different if I were left-handed).
Another point: is the size of the picture limited, or could you stretch it and use the width of the screen?
Guess that would be better, maybe with more space between the cars, text, and flag.

Not left/right, the difference is, if it goes from edge of screen to its center or from edge out of the screen (like now). The lost Ninja wrote:I'm sure it would look better if the front of the cars were pointed to the right, just like you made the first ones.

BTW I think the best would be without any flag or anything on right, but I cannot wait to see the new version of the flag tomorrow.

I myself am left-handed, but I agree with your assessment; the cars look very "static" as they are now. Although perhaps it also has something to do with how shiny they are; cars rarely stay that clean for long once they start racingThe lost Ninja wrote:I'm sure it would look better if the front of the cars were pointed to the right, just like you made the first ones.

I think the banner looks good as it is, but perhaps there could be something placed in the empty space to the right of it. Any ideas? Banners like RSC used to have maybe (like the GR one that surely attracted many people to the forum!)
I like short, simple signatures!
Re: Generally Racers Forum banner election
Yeah, the best would be if I could move banner to the center, but yeah, I can't handle PHP (yet, maybe next year I can, but I don't think we need to wait until then... ^^)bduddy wrote:I think the banner looks good as it is, but perhaps there could be something placed in the empty space to the right of it. Re: Generally Racers Forum banner election
Hmm... I'd say the second one. The additional blur on the shadows of the cars is a good idea, but it is a bit too heavy in the third picture. Either make it a bit shallower or have less of blur.

Re: Generally Racers Forum banner election
In my opinion this would look better with both cars pointed to the right, in the same direction and more blur on them to make an effect like they are side by side racing

I would say nr. 2, but remember: People are never satisfied, including myself.
Or, you can never satisfy everybody.

Re: Generally Racers Forum banner election
I'd choose nr.3. I think that having a waving flag requires some motion on the vehicles too. Otherwise it looks peculiar.
I have to say that I don't reject Ivo's point of loosing the flag completely. Because it would make the banner seem longer.

Re: Generally Racers Forum banner election
I think, that the blur of car is not great, I would prefer 2, because the 3 is over-blured IMHO. I was in Prague to make exam and I was without connection there, sorry, Rudy.
