Hello all,

Although this competition will start in September, I decided to open a discussion thread now - mainly because I'm on holidays at this moment, I don't have any access for my computer and I can't make even competition website. Anyway, let's talk about

What exactly do you mean by "both drivers on the team must use random cars?" Does that mean that one driver must drive one class of car, and the other driver must use the other class? I don't think the word random is what you want to use there, it doesn't quite mean what you think it means. I think different might be the word you are looking for :bg:

Yes, I meant different not random. But let's wait for the end of voting (1st/2nd August).

I'd rather like racing both categories, e.g. Sebring, LM, Interlagos all drivers driving LMP1s and e.g. Nurburgring, Spa (switched to 24h event) GT3-only field (5 races each class). So there'd be an overall championship and 2 division championships with both enough events and enough participants. But just my :2c:.

Qualification idea  .

LMP1+2 is for me the best option. So all cars will be likely to each other, and so it's matching better.

LMP1+GT3 is ok, too. So we can say, it's the LMP and the GTE (Pro/Am) classification in the Championship :)

LMP1 only is too small, and with F1 it would be a little silly. :hide:

At this moment I decided that there will be only Race, without Qualifs.

I like the idea of two divisions with seperate champions and maybe one overall champion.
But the team version looks also very interesting.

Probably it would look like this:

-Drivers race results (LMP1 + another category)
-Teams race results (sum of both drivers time)
-Overall drivers point classification
-2nd category point classification
-Overall teams classification
-Constructors classification

About teams - there are 2 possibilities:
-both drivers from one team are starting in two different classes (one in LMP1, second in second category)
-both drivers from one team are starting in the same category so there will be probably a limit for LMP1 (e.g. max 10 cars and no limit for GT3)

It's better. Different classes is strange idea.

One thing I remember from the last season was that the cars felt very unresponsive (too low "balance" value in Car editor") and very heavy. I guess LMP1 cars are in real life a lot more lively, so hopefully the car will be more fun to drive this season. ;)

The downside to limiting the number of cars in a class is that if there are drivers that sign up for LMP1 that do not race at all or only a couple of rounds, that takes away seats that a constant driver might want to have but can't because a cap is reached. I know that having multiple classes would be cool, but will there really be enough consistent drivers for having two classes to make sense, or will that leave both classes with thin fields? Just something to think about with the relatively low number of drivers that seem to sign up for most series.

Maybe if you divided drivers into two pools like in GRC (blacklisted people -> LMP1, others -> GT3) who would team up one driver from LMP1 and a driver from GT3, or maybe big teams with two in each category . You just need to come up with certain formula how to tell if driver is LMP1-worthy.

At this moment, I'm going to make these limits for LMP1 cars and drivers - max 4 constructors and max 12 drivers what gives us 6 LMP1 teams. But I see three options for teams:
-full LMP1 team
-full GT3 team
-LMP1+GT3 team (one driver uses LMP1 car and another uses GT3 car).

There will be used my GT3 Cars.

I'll probably make something like licenses (License A and License B) which will decide about selecting cars by each driver. At this moment, Alonso, Kuba and SGroe (TOP3 from Season 2013) would be classified as License A drivers so if they will start in this season they have a possibility to start in LMP1 category.

At this moment, TOP10 drivers from previous season have a possibility to start in LMP1; the rest of drivers can start only in GT3. But I hope that some drivers will sign up, even for GT3 category.

I like the idea of having two categories running, LMP1 and GT3 in particular, but having to split the drivers in two licence categories could be a problem if few players drives costantly through the whole championship.

Another way could be, basing on how many people sign in, to divide the drivers in a tennis-style, with the a top seeder associated with a non-seeded player, using the 2013 standings or the GWR rankings I don't know.

Eventually, my last idea is to have two categories running, but not both in the same race: like, in this way we'll have the Le Mans 24h to be done with LMP1, the Nurburgring/Spa 24h with GT3 and so on; so in the end there still will be two rankings, one for the prototypes and one for the GTs, but everyone will use the same car in every race.

I'll open signing up after 1st August. Now there is discussion before season and everybody can write his opinion. Don't worry, I'm open for your suggestions ;)

Yeah, i think Trigger Happy & boblopette idea is spot on. There're enough real-life endurance events who only run "GT" cars to have a nice mix between both classes in the schedule: Spa 24, Nurburgring 24, Bathurst 12... you could even have the Sebring race as a GT3 event since LMP1 no longer race there under new TUSCC rules.

Personal preference here but i'd throw in there 1 or 2 iconic endurance tracks from North America (Road Atlanta, Mosport, Lagun Seca) in place of Shanghai, Bahrein or Interlagos (i know they're on the WEC calendar but any hardcore endurance racing fan would cringe at the notion of these being famous endurance tracks). Just my :2c:

You can now sign up for this competition (first post updated with info).

After 3rd August there will be signing up for LMP1 constructors and everybody will be selecting cars for their teams. One week before season start, I'll try to make a login for this compo.

BTW. I see also another option - using original LMP1 cars (Audi, Toyota, Porsche) instead of creating own LMPs.

:!: forgot to say in my post that - if the events are taking place on real world circuits (almost) according to the original WEC calendar, just like the 2013 season - I'd also prefer to have real original LMP and GT cars instead of creating own models, I liked how the series felt in the past season under this point of view.

I am using rwl tracks and own models. It is no problem for me.

OK, there won't be creating own cars, we'll probably use LMP1 cars by Marcinho and Super GT3 by me.

And list of drivers admitted for LMP1 is here.

If I participate, it'll be in the GTE category with either Chevrolet Camaro or BMW Z4. Also 1 LMP1 car will be for an elite driver.

If the 2 drivers of a team drive in the same category (like GT3), they must use the same car or they can/must use different cars (like, one use the BMW E89 Z4, the other use the Ferrari 458 Italia)?

Whichever category will be selected by any team, both drivers must use the same car.

First post updated with list of LMP1 cars.
