  • ... which happened for the first time since Italy 2015, where Trigger Happy finished 10th and Buka finished 9th.
  • During the 2015 season both Haas F1 drivers finished inside the top 10 in 8 of 15 races (53.33%).
  • In between Italy 2015 and Canada 2016 (excluding both Grands Prix) there was a streak of 8 Grands Prix races where they failed to do so. However in 7 of these 8 Grands Prix only one of both drivers entered.
  • Overall and before the United States Grand Prix 2016, Buka and Trigger Happy both made it into the top 10 at the same time in 42.86% of all races or, more precisely, in 56.25% of all races that both attended.
  • Trigger Happy made it into the top 10 in 16 of all 18 races (88.89%) that he attended since his debut in Australia 2015. That's the same percentage as Kuba's top 10 finishes (46/54 since Australia 2011).
  • Statistically, Buka finishes inside the top 10 every second race (20/40) since his first Grand Prix in Australia 2011.
Conclusion: Not so much a "huge success" as the expected result, considering the few cases when Trigger Happy actually participated this year. ;)

Clarification of the track limits
XYY posted this little picture today, asking whether the red lines marked the limit of the track.

Image

Crossing the white (red in the picture above) line with all 4 wheels is not allowed. Most importantly, you might want to pay attention to the sand patch at the top of the screenshot.
However, when you are back on the oval you can use the full width of the banked track. So the red line in the bottom right corner is not quite accurate.

Changes to the track & pit entry
There is a new sunk tyre in corner 3 for those of you who liked to throw the car in and hug onto the inner white line. We expect a much smoother line through this corner during the race so that tyre might not be of much significance anyway.

Secondly, the pit entry is marked by a blue cone. That cone has no relevance in terms of track limits! However, there is a sunk right behind that cone. You must not enter the pit lane once you have passed that sunk tyre. The picture below shows the extreme case of what is stillallowed.
If you have successfully entered the pit entry lane, you are allowed to re-enter by crossing the grass whenever necessary.

You all enjoy a little quiz, don't you!?

Image

How well do you know the PGR F1 Grand Prix tracks?
Last year we had the very popular but insanely difficult stats and trivia quiz for you. This time we are going to ask you 20 questions, not much less difficult, in order to test your knowledge about the Grand Prix tracks from 2009 to the current saison. Yes, we did draw some inspiration from the respective thread here on GRIF.

The quiz is available on our homepage.

Stats about qualifying

You are right. Fastest lap is zinc's. We had some problems with our tool because zinc had his pit stop on the start-finish line and somehow crossed the line twice - backwards and forwards probably. Our tool counted that as an additional lap, making it his fastest lap with a time of about a few seconds. :D

I suppose that zinc could be a serious podium contender every race if he stopped drifting, his consistency in qualifyings is great but driving the same way in a race is a suicide.

Honestly, I'd opt for changing settings for Q in future so that drifting wouldn't be so efficient anymore.

Mixed weather qualifying
As some of you might have already noticed, this is going to be the first ever qualifying session in mixed weather conditions. But in order to make qualifying work under these circumstances, we had to think of some minor adjustments and came up with a substantial update for this week.

At its core, qualifying remains identical, using the same settings as ever. That is: 5 laps, 0% tyre wear and fuel consumption, 40 kg fuel mass and 25% damage. As for your car, the mixed version is the way to go.

So what is new?
Firstly, we are using the mixed weather track inside our update pack (Silverst. MW.trk), which is not too surprising but it is extremely important.
Secondly, you have to be using our new palette (Mix - Silverstone.pal), which you should copy into the palettes folder.

So far so good. Now the important difference:
You need to pick an additional driver to compete with you – after you have chosen your own profile in the main menu of GeneRally. Also make sure that, in the settings of the game, the starting order is set to “points” as it should have been, anyways.

So, which driver are you supposed to take on?
Copy the “dummy driver.drv” into the drivers folder of the game and copy the “PGR F1 2016 [Dummy].car” into the cars folder. Then select the “Dummy driver” profile in game – again, after you have picked up your own profile. Then change his car to the Safety Car, which you will find at the very bottom of the drop-down menu.

Technically, you are now racing another human driver in a safety car. But your opponent is going to sit in the pits and is not going to move, while you are starting on the grid and go in rounds alone. If this is what you find, then you have done everything right.

Some important information:
  • Once you have completed your 5 laps of qualifying, you must abort the race manually. But do not quit the whole season altogether! You still need to grab a screen and save your game when the results table shows up.
  • The ghost option does not work, because it is technically a race and not what GeneRally understands as a “time trial”.
  • We strongly recommend you to practice the exact same settings. Leaving out the dummy driver or racing more than 5 laps at a time will substantially change the grip levels.
  • We do not tolerate if you gain more track time by invalidating your laps. We also advise you not to stop or reverse on track. Otherwise the “additional” laps will be deleted. Zig-zagging, drifting or going slowly is still allowed.
Where is the update?
Here it is:

  • Up to the British Grand Prix 2015, which was the 8th round of the season, you had scored 10 points. From the British Grand Prix to the end of the season you scored additional 34 points, with only 2 finishes outside the top ten and a lot of great results including your 4th place in Brazil. So far this year, you have scored 7 points up to the British Grand Prix, which is the 9th round of the season but your 8th Grand Prix, considering that you left out the season opener.
  • 3 out of all your 13 top ten race results were achieved this season, 8th in France and Monaco and 10th in Spain.
  • At the end of the 2015 season your average qualifying result was 14.87. Right now, after the British Grand Prix 2016, your average result this season is 14.33 (-0.54). Your career average is 14.52.
  • At the end of the 2015 season your average race result was 9.07. Before the British Grand Prix 2016 the average race result is 11.57 (+2.50). Your career average is 10.74.
  • With Trigger Happy, Fiolek and Doncamillo some of your opponents from 2015 are missing. But they were replaced by Yankess, Lorenzo, Akouk and zinc1610. So I guess that a slight drop was to be expected.

Don't worry, disapointment after login here is going to be general feeling, this track sucks. I'm curious, what people are doing with their brains while typing Silverstone in their calendar votes. This is a track, where one really doesn't want to race with 6 5 retarded AIs, who during a race are often planted into a single-line sections around the track, which takes literally seconds away from laptimes due collisions, missed checkpoints etc ... frustration after login is almost certain. :D
