It is nearly done! They started showing us screens back in late 2006 and originally planned to release it as as PS3's debut game in mid 2007. They didn't finish it so they planned for an '08 release... Not finished. They promised to release it during Q3 or Q4 2009 with GTPSP, GTPSP has a non existing brother right now. Finally it's nearly released so we can show those Forza fanboys which is the better game.

Reason for delay:

Sony producer Taku Imasaki said that the reason for the delay is that series creator Kazunori Yamauchi and Polyphony Digital want to "make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience." In addition, the Sony spokesman Makiko Noda said that the reason of the delay is due to production reasons.

They are actually running a poll at Pelit.fi about which comes first: GT5, Duke Nukem Forever, Jesus 2, UFOs or The first EM-Cup preliminary victory for Finland.

And they said at someplace that the reason for GT5 being delayed as much as it is going to be delayed now was that it missed the production window by 3 days. Because there are so many Blu-Ray movies and stuff coming during the holiday seasons, there just wasn't enough space and time to create enough of GT5 discs before the release date.

But still, the game SHOULD come before Christmas.

Welp, I guess first of all it's kinda not allowed to even ask about those things, but I also doubt there will be one for a long while. They fixed the game to support the latest firmware so it is safer... So. Better just go buy the game.

Looks like the price of the limited edition has also been going down all the time. I just keep on getting some money back at the webstore where I ordered it from.

The track list they've shown is quite disappointing... it's lacking tracks from prior GT games, and even those from trailers and demos... hopefully it's not just one of those "pay for DLC we already made!" things...
