Full screen or POV tracks

Hello there ! :)

Wanted to share advices on how to properly display full screen tracks and pov tracks (those which have an unusual angle).

Let's take an example, Mplume's only track "Dour" :
Full screen track "Dour" from Mplume
Full screen track "Dour" from Mplume

Like you see it's a full screen track, that's say you don't see the sky nor the walls surrounding the limits of the track, which gives a special effect.

Now if you want to play it on a 16:9 resolution like 1920x1080, this track is displayed like this :
Not displayed correctly at 16:9 resolution
Not displayed correctly at 16:9 resolution

Uh, that's not what was shown on the picture of the track from Mplume. As you can see you have access to the backstage of the track, and it kind of ruins the original full screen effect. Also the POV has changed and we are way higher. So would we ignore or delete this track ? NO ! Certainly not, but you have to follow those steps :

. First no need to find an older GR version for those to work again, no ! You may use another latest installment of GR 1.2d aside of your main GR directory. It will be your full screen - unusual POV GR directory.
. Place Dour or other full screen / unusual POV tracks in the track folder and open GR.
. Go to Options - Advanced and set the screen resolution to 1280x960 or other 4:3 resolutions that suits your computer screen or personal preferences. Untick the Full screen option as GR will stretch the screen and it will be quite weird/ugly. That's the reason why we create another installement, as we'll not be forced to change each time our screen resolution.
. Start a race on Dour. You will have this screen :
Correctly displayed in 4:3 resolution
Correctly displayed in 4:3 resolution

Yay ! Same as shown from Mplume. Now you can play this track as it was intended.

Hope it helps.

See you ! :)

Thanks for this hint!

Because the majority of tracks I've kept have been created with the older versions of GR, my main installation actually uses 4:3 resolution. :)

Thank you Kikwik :) Unbelievable how there are new tricks being found even after 22 years.
